FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Announcing DIY Fest at The Scrap Exchange April 16th!

Come on out and help us celebrate 25 years!

Play. Create. Celebrate! Saturday, April 16th with The Scrap Exchange at DIY Fest! Enjoy a variety of

fun-filled indoor and outdoor activities, including maker stations, artist booths, live demos, live music, food trucks, presentations and much, much more!

DIY Fest (Do-It-Yourself Festival) brings together artists, makers, and other creative individuals to celebrate Durham’s innovative do-it-yourself spirit. This event officially launches The Scrap Exchange’s celebration of 25 years of creative reuse in the community.

Artists and Makers will be set up in our outdoor courtyard along with Kids Zone, games, and more! Live music and Eco Lounge presentations will happen on our outdoor patio stage. DIY Stations, Make N’ Take, and our Design Studio will be available indoors for more hands-on creative opportunities. Take home one of a kind trinkets built by yourself, an artist, or a ROBOT! Enjoy live presentations on sustainability, and unleash your inner child with carnival games, the DIY Puppet Theater, or free-range exploration!

“We are excited about this opportunity to celebrate Durham’s innovative DIY-spirit,” noted Scrap Exchange Executive Director Ann May Woodward, “and look forward to playing and learning with the community at DIY fest!” Woodward will be on hand to discuss The Scrap Exchange’s vision for the redevelopment of the north end of the Lakewood Shopping Center.
