ANNOUNCEMENT/INFORMATION for applicants

Position of lecturer/ fagassistent/ førsteamanuensis/ odborný asistent

is available at the Department ofGerman, Scandinavian and Dutch Studies (Section for Norwegian), Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University of Brno, CZECH REP.

About us: Our Department offers courses in Norwegian language and conversation courses at all levels, literature history, culture history and contemporary society topics at BA and MA levels. We have 20 students at the BA (3 years), 12 students at MA level (+ 2 years). Semester session lasts 3 months (medio September – medio December and medio February – medio May). Usual pedagogic obligation in this full-time position is 10-12 teaching hours per week inclusive consultation, evt. Guidance/Tuition of student thesis (BA or MA) arenot included in this figure.

The candidate is expected to lead the courses in Norwegian language and/or literature and/or culture, to participate in teaching, in exam setting and evaluation at all levels in accordance with the needs of the Department. (

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Norwegian at the mother tongue level (C 2)
  • University study: Norwegian or similar philological branch at MA level.
  • Documented pedagogical skills (based on teaching experience min. 2 years)
  • Motivation for the job in the Czech Republic, in Brno, at MU
  • Presence stay in Brno min. 6 months during a calendar year.

The candidate must demonstrate mastery of both Norwegian and English as working languages. Czech language knowledge is not expected . German kbowledge is a huge communication advantage at our Department, but not necessary.

  • Salary according to Czech regulative for university teachers. No support or subvention from Norway.

Selection procedure

The deadline for written application is 30th September 2015 – mail and post.

By 10st October 2015 you will be informed about the eventual invitation to the interview at the Department commission in Brno – the invitation will be sent per mail.

The procedure will be closed until: 12th November 2015.

The official start of the job in Brno: 1st February 2016.
