Annie Jr. – Boys’ Audition – August 10th and 11th, 3:00-5:00

(Rooster, Drake, Mr. Bundles, Apple Seller, Lt. Ward, Dogcatcher, President Roosevelt, Burt Healy, and Ensemble Members)

Singing Excerpts: / Instructions:
“Tomorrow – Reprise”
Practice with the “with voice” track first, then practice with the “accompaniment only” track. You will sing with “accompaniment only” track for your audition. / If your voice is “unchanged” (your voice is still high like it was in elementary school) – sing the entire excerpt on the same pitches as the “with voice” track.
If your voice is “changed” (your voice has started to get lower) – sing beginning with “tomorrow, tomorrow…” singing an octave below the voice on the voice track.
If your voice is “changed” and you can sing very low – sing the entire excerpt an octave below the voice on the track.

“Easy Street” – only if auditioning for Rooster / Open to 7th and 8th graders only. Sing an octave below voice on practice track.
Speaking Excerpts: / Instructions:
Scene #2 / Practice speaking the lines for Lt. Ward, a policeman. The most important thing is to make a choice and stick with it!

Boys interested ONLY in playing a minor speaking role and working stage crew may omit the singing audition. If you are selected for one of these roles, you will spend the majority of the show working back stage. Excellent reports on work ethic from your teachers will be required. (See audition form)

*Callbacks give the directors another chance to make casting decisions when the first round of auditions leaves them undecided. It is possible that not all of the above characters will require a callback.

*Callbacks also offer a chance for directors to see different characters interact. If you receive a callback, prepare to act and sing with other students.

*If you are interested in one of the above characters, and the callback material is different than from the first audition, you may wish to learn the material in advance.
