Students must meet TSI requirements identified by the Alamo Colleges prior to enrollment in dual credit courses. Advanced Placement courses are available to prepare students for rigorous college coursework. All students will participate in UIL, student leadership and service opportunities while in high school.

Course / Course Description
Principles of Art, Audio/Video and Communication Technology / Careers in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications Career Cluster require a creative aptitude, a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong academic foundation, and a proficiency in oral and written communication. Within this context, Animation students develop an understanding of the various and multifaceted career opportunities in this cluster and the knowledge, skills, and educational requirements for those opportunities.
Animation I / Careers in animation span all aspects of motion graphics. Within this context, in addition to developing technical knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications career cluster, students understand the history and design techniques widely used by animators.
Animation I Lab / Taken concurrently with Animation I, students participate in extended learning experiences that provide time to master the content of both courses including the history and techniques of the rapidly changing animation industry. In addition to developing technical knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications Career Cluster, students develop an understanding of the history and techniques of the animation industry.
Animation II / Careers in animation span all aspects of motion graphics. Within this context, in addition to developing advanced knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications Career Cluster, students create two- and three-dimensional animations. Instruction assists students seeking careers in the animation industry.
Animation II Lab / Taken concurrently with Animation II, students participate in extended learning experiences that provides time to master the advanced content of both courses.
Practicum and Extended Practicum in Animation (DC) / Building upon the concepts taught in Animation II and Animation II Lab, in addition to developing advanced technical knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts and A/V cluster, students develop an increasing understanding of the animation industry with a focus on applying pre-production, production, and post-production animation products in a professional environment. Instruction is delivered through lab-based classroom experiences and career preparation opportunities. Practicum courses are paid or unpaid capstone experiences for students participating in a coherent sequence of career and technical education courses in the Arts and A/V cluster.
Video Game Design / Video Game Design explores one of the largest industries in the global marketplace and the new emerging careers it provides in the field of technology. Students learn gaming, computerized gaming, evolution of gaming, artistic aspects of perspective, design, animation, technical concepts of collision theory, and programming logic. Students participate in a simulation of a real video game design team while developing technical proficiency in constructing an original game design.
Professional Communications (DC) / Students participate in advanced writing, reading, editing, speaking, and listening activities by applying advanced software applications, computer graphics and conducting extensive internet research.
Communications Applications (DC) / Students develop fundamental skills to communicate effectively in a variety of modes, with emphasis on listening, speaking, discussing, presenting and assessing. Students present, receive feedback, refine and repeat presentations to become effective oral communicators in the classroom, on the job, and/or in the community.
