Confession time…as a Value Maker I have tried to share things via the website by writing blogs, some of which have been more successful than others, but they all share the same feature in that they were all written in a little 8cm x 2cm box with very little option to add format, style and/or pizazz to the piece.

And don’t get me started on what happens when you try to return to start a new paragraph!!!

So it was something of a light bulb moment when in PP3 (3 Piccadilly Place, Manchester) David kindly asked, “What are you doing?” and showed me an alternative, more user friendly option!

First you need to log in and select Add Blog. Then you need to change the Text format option in the drop down menu to be Full HTML rather than Filtered HTML.

All of a sudden, a new menu of options appear, ones that look familiar to the Office packages that we are all familiar with using. The one that is really useful though, is the maximise/minimise button.

Click on that and all of a sudden you can write your blog in full screen!

Yes, you heard me right, full screen that looks like this…

If only I’d learned this at the beginning of my Blog writing journey 

While we are in the Add Blog section there is something else that I learned this week, how to add a link to another piece in your blog. Previously I’ve had to just make reference to earlier blogs, or paste in the link to a YouTube video without it being a hyperlink. But to link it is really quite simple.

You need tohighlight the word that you want to turn into a link and then click on the link icon.

In the Link Info tab of the menu you then need to type in your URL and then click on the target tab.

Using the drop down menu, select New Window (_blank) and then click on ok.

This will take you back to your blog where the highlighted word should now be a hyperlink.

Click on the maximise/minimise button again and you are back to the main Add Blog screen where you can Pick a Category (or multiple categories) for your blog, select a group if you want to limit access to the blog to specific group members only (leave it as none if you want the blog to be

publically available) and then, if you are like me, click on Preview to do one last check, and then click on save.

It’s fair to say that my blog writing experience will never be the same again.

Hope this helps.
