An Anniversary and a Host of Records

Phoenix Conveyor Belt Systems has been setting standards in conveyor belt technology for over a century

Munich, January 2007. Numerous projects underscore the clear international market leadership of Phoenix Conveyor Belt Systems in the development and production of extremely strong conveyor belts. The company will be showcasing its products at the world's largest construction fair, the bauma, from April 23 to 29 in Munich at booth 235 in hall C2. And it will be celebrating an anniversary there as well: half a century ago, Phoenix developed the Phoenocord, which holds numerous records. But Phoenix has contributed decisively to the development of conveyor belt technology already for more than a century.

The world's strongest belt and the strongest belt used underground are just two examples of the achievements of Phoenix Conveyor Belt Systems. The world's strongest conveyor belt is in operation in Los Pelambres in Chile. The Phoenocord St 7800 from Phoenix Conveyor Belt Systems conveys some 8,700 tons of copper ore an hour from the mine to the processing facilities 13 kilometers away.

The world's strongest conveyor belt in use underground is a Phoenocord St 7500. The 8,000 meter-long steel cable conveyor belt in the Prosper II coal mine in Bottrop is unique not only because of its breaking load but also because it conveys material simultaneously on both sides and in both directions. And in Peru, the world's largest pipe conveyor is currently being built. The underground conveyor has to conform to the city's narrowly laid-out streets, so a Phoenopipe conveyor belt from Phoenix Conveyor Belt Systems was the only possibility.

A further example is the longest conveyor belt without intermediate drives. It transports limestone from India to Bangladesh over more than 17 kilometers of swampy terrain. In doing so, the Phoenocord belt made by Phoenix traverses not only national borders but also mountains, rivers, country roads and rice paddies.
