AmeriCorps VISTA Position Description
JOB TITLE: The Forsyth Promise New Century IDA Education VISTA
FULL TIME POSITIONS: One Year Term August 20, 2016 – August 19, 2017
REPORTS TO: The Forsyth Promise Partnership Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Coordinate, provide support to and serve as a liaison between program partners in implementing Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)Days initiative, the scholarship program, and The Forsyth Promise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The member will improve Forsyth County students’ access to post-secondary educational opportunities through the following actions:
-Serving as a program liaison between program partners including the Experiment in Self-Reliance, Crosby Scholars, and the United Way.
-Developing and updating marketing materials and documents for the program.
-Conducting presentations and recruiting eligible students for the program.
-Tracking student progress through the program i.e. application, opening bank account, monthly savings, financial literacy module completion.
-Tracking and reporting on student progress and retention.
-Increasing program visibility.
-Introducing the program to additional matching partners.
-Collecting student and parent testimonialson the program’s impact.
-Developing and conducting surveys about program’s effectiveness and impact.
-Conducing follow-up on matching scholarship awards.
-Scheduling meetings and providing updates on the program’s progress to all partners.
-Creating and maintaining required statistical reports for grant compliance and reporting.
-Other duties assigned relevant to the purpose of the VISTA project.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree
AmeriCorps VISTA Member: AmeriCorps VISTA is a program of The Corporation for National and Community Service. All VISTAs are paid a living allowance that is based on the poverty level in Forsyth County. Monthly pay is approximately $895 per month. For more information visit:
Skills:Ability to use personal computer for word processing, spread sheet and otherapplications relevant to job; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;strong interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills, planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently, ability to work professionally with staff, volunteers and general public.
Other:Access to personal transportation highly desired
