The following activity areas are top priorityfor our AmeriCorps program, but other activities may be allowable. See below for restriction reminders and requirements for all AmeriCorps positions.- Members performing direct Construction/Rebuilding/Repairs/Home Modifications
- Client Outreach (Presentations, development of materials, relationship-building)
- Project Management (Give Back Days, Year-Round, Home Modifications)
- Volunteer Recruitment/Management (including teams, office volunteers, committees)
- New Partnership Development (faith-based, neighborhood, in-kind, skilled labor, volunteer team)
- Special Initiatives (veteran rehabs, energy efficiency, youth builds, disaster rebuilding)
- Expansion/Enhancement of Services (new programs, new service areas, new populations served)
AmeriCorps Members & Fundraising: AmeriCorps members can do limited fundraising for resources that directly support their service area. The time spent on fundraising must be under 10% of all service hours. For instance, an AmeriCorps member with the position of Energy Efficiency Coordinator can write a grant to support a new energy efficiency initiative. AmeriCorps members maynot raise general operating funds.
Prohibited Activities:AmeriCorps member position descriptions may not include political/lobbying/union/labor campaigns, fundraising for general operating funds (members may assist in fundraising efforts targeting the sustainability of their project), religious proselytizing, or providing support for a for-profit organization.AmeriCorps Members may never be used in a capacity to replace or displace employees. AmeriCorps members maynot serve as Executive Directors (fiduciary responsibilities) or as Administrative Assistants.
