This year join old friends and make new ones at the 37th Annual American Council of the Blind Of Texas State Conference which is being held in Corpus Christi, TX from September 17-20, 2015. The location will be the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Hotel at 707 N. Shoreline Blvd. Corpus Christi78401. The main phone number is 361-882-1700 and is the number for reservations.
The hotel does provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. Arrangements for the shuttle service may be made at the front desk. Shuttle service from the Greyhound bus station may also be available depending upon the airport schedule. Please call the local number for the hotel listed above to check availability and schedule a ride.
You may begin making reservations now by calling 361 882-1700. Remember to mention that you will be attending the ACBT Conference in order to receive the discounted room rate of $97.00 per night, which is $111.55 with taxes. That does include up to 4 people per room. A dog relief area will be provided.
This year we have several new opportunities for gathering with friends. They include a Friday eveningprivate tour with dinner aboard the USS Lexington and a Friday morning tour designed especially for ACBT to the Corpus Christi Aquarium which will include lunch. We are able to offer the tour and dinner aboard the USS Lexington at such a fantastic price due to a very generous donation from the South Texas Lighthouse Foundation. This year itis time for our auction following the Saturday evening banquet.Come prepared to support your organization and have fun at the same time. Again this year the Hospitality Suite will be open Friday and Saturday evenings forsocializing and a little impromptu music, so bring your voices and instruments.
There will also be a variety of workshops from which to choose.
Back by popular demand will be 2 sessions of ballroom dancing and, of course, a technology workshop,so bring your phone, tablet and lap top to explore the latest advancements. Our new offerings include: being a smart traveler, the importance of practicing good etiquette, avoiding fraud and identity theft, and accessing social media. Our third annual Leadership Forumis titled “Sounding the Trumpet”.
