Indications: phlegm-dampness obstructing Qi in UJ and MJ.

Always good to resolve phlegm/damp. Lots of types of phlegm – wind damp, cold, etc. You use this formula as the base and add herbs to address the type and location of the phlegm.

The blue herbs above are often not included in the formula. Have the patient add sheng jiang on their own.

Ind: Dry phlegm in the LU with slight injury to yin.

Mostly works in the Lung area, specifically bronchial areas.

Gua lou good for phlegm related to heat. Chuan bei mu used because in this case heat has injured the liquids – same reason tian hua fen is in the formula.

Fnx: clear heat, elim phlegm, redirect rebellious lu qi down to stop cough.

Indications: phlegm heat in lung (organ, not channel)

This is for problems that are deep. You can’t use it too early because it will draw the problem downward inside the body. This descends the Qi down to resolve phlegm and make space which helps the cough resolve.

Phlegm is sticky, yellow phlegm, w/ tight chest feeling. Common for the Austin area. Make sure sticky phlegm isn’t in the throat, but in the chest! This is about bronchii and lung problems. Works for smokers too.
