Describe your personal characteristics, accomplishments, primary interests. This is an important part of the application; therefore, you should carefully prepare this essay. If you have submitted an Area Go Texan scholarship application for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2017, you may submit the same essay you prepared for that application.

ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years’ past experience in 4-H or FFA to be eligible for this scholarship. Acceptable participation includes membership in good standing and having completed all required project participation of the organization for a total period of two years from the time period of grade level 9-12. Membership and participation does NOT have to be consecutive years of service.
2. Applicants must first submit an Area Go Texan online application with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) and be able to show proof of such application in order to be eligible for this scholarship. To find out more about the HLSR Area Go Texan scholarship visit www.rodeohouston.com and click on the scholarship link.
3. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Area Go Texan Scholarship may be awarded after our local deadline. If you are the recipient of the Houston scholarship, you will not be eligible for the local scholarship. So, even though you may initially be awarded our local scholarship, you will be trading it
for the Houston scholarship, if so awarded.
