Alon Sariel - Short CV:

Alon Sariel (1986 - ) graduated from the Jerusalem Music Academy and specialized at the Brussles Royal Conservatory and Hochschule für Musik Teater und Media in Hannover, he is fluent in English, German and Hebrew.

In 2011 Alon Sariel has won top prizes at the Bloch competition, the Israeli Music competition in London, and the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition, these were followed by solo performances with several orchestras in the UK, among them, Imaestri Orchestra, London International Orchestra, Arnold Sinfonia, Airedale Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the City and recitals in some of London’s most important venues. Sariel is regularly invited as soloist to some of the top orchestras in Israel, many times also as conductor, as guest conductor he has conducted top orchestras such the Munich Chamber Orchestra.

During his studies at the JerusalemAcademy he has won the first prizes in the Chamber Music Competition, The Competition for String Instruments and The Conducting Competition. He was awarded the Audience Prize in the name of Meira Gera at the Aviv Competitions in Early Music and a special recognition from the Jury of the Ben-Haim Competition for Contemporary Israeli Music. As a classical mandolin player he has won top prizes at the European Mandolin Award (Greece) and the Rafaelle Calace Competition (Italy), receiving the America-Israel Cultural FoundationScholarships since 2002, the “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now” Scholarship, the Chais Foundation Excellence Grant, the Sarni Foundation Scholarships and a special grant from "Zfunot Tarbut" Foundation.

As member of Daniel Barenboim’s West Eastern Divan Orchestra and with several other ensembles, Sariel has toured throughout Europe, the Far East, the Middle East and North America, lectured and conducted master classes in Israel, Europe, the USA and in prestigious schools such as Trinity College of Music, London. He is a member of the Cambridge Performance Master Classes and the New Expression Music Camp in San Diego, California, where he teaches conducting, chamber music and mandolin.

Sariel has recorded for labels such as Naxos and Albany Records (USA), has played live on Arta, BBC4 and the Israeli Educational TV, his playing can be heard on "Kol Hamusika" and WNYC. His Händel recording with the soprano Ania Vegry has won the German BOBBY prize.

Together with other talented international students Sariel has founded the Hannover International Ensemble which is making its name as one of the attractive and interesting young ensembles in the region, which was invited to take part at the NDR Musiktag in May 2012 and was invited as Ensemble in Residence to the International Mandolin Festival of Castellar, including a guest performance at the Menton Music Festival in France in July 2012. Sariel regularly directs the Israeli Early Music Project which he has founded in 2006 in order to promote the Historically Informed Performance in Israel.

Today Sariel is Musical Director and Conductor of the Camerata Medica and the Jugend Symphony Orchester in Göttingen.
