Aloha KoloaElementary School Parents, October 13, 2014
Welcome back to school everyone, new and returning. I hope that all of you had an opportunity to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Thank you for all of your support during the first quarter with your child(ren)’s education. We appreciate all that you do for and with us.
Thank you for supporting our Walk To School Day on Wednesday, October 1st. We had approximately 144 walkers. The next Walk To School Day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5th, at 7:00 am at First Hawaiian Bank across the Big Save parking lot. The class with the most participants was Mrs. Dame’s 5th grade class. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 5th. We thank parents Jenni Batalucco, Lia
Richards, Vicki Cano-Braman and Sherri Lauer for coordinating this activity.
For the first quarter of school (44 days), we had 96 students who had perfect attendance. The classes with highest perfect attendance were Ms. Carvalho’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Dame’s 5th grade class. During the month of September, we had 161 students with PERFECT ATTENDANCE. Perfect attendance rate for the first quarter was 26%.
Just another reminder that the library will be closed beginning October 13th through November 11th. The library will reopen on Wednesday, November 12th. The carpeting in the library will be replaced and the roof as well. Two trash bins will be placed in front of the library to help with the disposal of rubbish. The roofing should not impact before or after school drop-off and pick-up. The designated areas will still be the same.
BE SAFE is October’s Student of the Month theme. We use the following descriptors and actions to define what it means to be safe:
