Once approved,if the program as revised does not commence enrollment within 90 days of the anticipated start date disclosed on the application, you are directed to notify ABHES of this in writing. Any approved program that has not been in operation for a continuous 12-month period is considered discontinued and reapplication is necessary (see Chapter III. B., Subsection4.C.b. and Glossary definition, Discontinued Program, Accreditation Manual).

*IV.G. of the Accreditation Manual outlines expectations relative to calculating minimum requirements for outside (student preparation) hours. All credit-awarding programs require the completion of outside (student preparation) hours; however, ABHES does not require that these hours be listed on the program approval letter.

Exhibit 1 / a cover letter outlining the rationale for the proposed revision documenting how the revision will better achieve the educational objectives of the program and more adequately prepare graduates for entry-level employment in the field of study.
Exhibit 2 / a side-by-side comparison (spreadsheet) highlighting the differences between the current curriculum and the proposed curriculum
Exhibit 3 / course syllabi impacted by the change (must include all components of Appendix F)
Exhibit 4 / a catalog addendum outlining the revised program offered which includes the admissions requirements, program objectives, schedule, course descriptions and program delivery
Exhibit 5 / a completed Profile of Clock to Credit Hour Conversion (PCCHC) grid for the current program (
Exhibit 6 / a completed PCCHC grid for the revised program (
Exhibit 7 / course-mapping to demonstrate how the program includes all required competencies (applicable to programs for which ABHES has program-specific standards)
Exhibit 8 / a copy of all applicable authorizing bodies’ approvals for the program (e.g., state, BONs, institutional accreditor, etc.) (school’s operating by licensure by means of accreditation must submit documentation to support this process)
Exhibit 9 / (as applicable) justification to support that the additional outside hours included in the program length meet commonly accepted standards in higher education and are necessary to enable to student to achieve program objectives.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

One (1) USB or a CD Romof the completed application is required (hard-copies are no longer necessary). The USB or CD must be submitted in one seamless PDF document and bookmarked for ease of review. The file must include the completed Application document and all required exhibits labeled as directed in the application. It is imperative that the submission is correctly labeled with the (1) institution’s name, (2) city/state, (3) ABHES ID #, and (4) Type of Application (e.g., MPR, NPA, Substantive).Submissions must include the appropriate fee. Applications submitted less the required fee or exhibits will enter the review queue upon receipt of all materials.

NOTIFICATION OF THE DECISION:

ABHES will notify the individual noted on the application in writing of the status of the application within eight (8) weeks of receipt of the completed application.
