Manager Responsibilities

1. Eachteam will supply one new baseball to the umpire at ground rules.

2. Make sure all players are in protective gear to play the game. The catcher must wear full protective gearincluding throat protector and cup.

3.Reminder: I league is an instructional league for players, managers, coaches, spectators and umpires.

Umpires

1. During Coach Pitch Innings, Umpires will stand behind catcher but only count pitches.

2. During Player Pitch Innings, Umpires will call balls and strikes. 3 strikes is an out, while four balls is a walk.

General rules

A. Field Dimensions

1. Pitching distance is 40 feet.

2. Bases are 60 feet.

3. Baseballs: AD Starr 100/dol-1 or equivalent.

B. Playing Rules

1. On defense, a team can field 10 players consisting of 6 infielders and 4 out fielders.

Teams may use 9 or 10 players to start game. If starting game with 9, team may not go up to 10. Teams may finish with 8 players, no matter of how many defensive players start the game.

2. At most, 2 coaches may be on the field for defensive instructions. Must be in the outfield. 5 Coaches are allowed on the roster.

3. Each team will use a continuous batting order. Players arriving late can be added to the end of the lineup.

4. All players must play 6 defensive and six offensive outs.

5. Games will be 6 innings.

6. Maximum of 10 batters per inning. (Except the 6th inning)

7. An at bat will be 10 batters, 5 runs or 3 outs whichever occurs first.

8. 6th inning or extra innings a team can score unlimited number of runs.

9. 10 run rule will apply.

10. All play will come to an end when a logical conclusion of play has occurred.

11. Infield fly rule will not apply.

12. No dropped 3rd strike rule. Dropped 3rd strike is a dead ball batter is out.

13. No leading off or stealing.

14. No balks.

15. The ball is dead from catcher to pitcher between pitches.

16. No bat restrictions, except: No composite two-piece or three piece bats, no T-ball bats. Bats cannot be dented or cracked.

17. If there is an injury on the field immediate dead ball will called by the umpire. All runners willreturn to last legally touched base unless forced.

18. No protests.

19. No non-baseball equipment will be allowed on the field, except a kneeling pad for the coach pitcher.

20. Only one baseball will be in play at any given time. No buckets will be allowed on the field.

21. No inning will start after 8:30PM.

C. Pitching Rules.

1. A coach of the team at bat will pitch the 1st three innings. During these innings there will be:

a. No hit batsman.

b. No walks.

2. The defensive pitcher will stand alongside the coach that is pitching.

3. Each batter will receive at the most 6 pitches. If the batter fails to hit the ball into fair territory after 6 pitches he or she will be declared out.

4. If a batted ball hits the coach pitcher, it will be a live ball unless it is caught out of reflex. In this case,the ball is dead and the batter will receive first base and forced runners will advance one base.

5. The coach that is pitching is not allowed to give instructions to the base runners. If he does onewarning will be given. If further violations occur, the lead runner will be called out for coach’s interference.

6.Coach must be in contact with the rubber when pitching. Note: can be on one knee.

7.Player pitch will begin in the top of the 4th and continue to the end of the game.

10. Players cannot pitch more than two innings in a calendar day.

11. All pitches will be delivered by using an overhand throwing motion.
