Staffed Hours
Members may use the Wellness Centre anytime over the holidays; however, staffing hours will be modified as follows.
December 24 – 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
December 25 & 26 – No staff
December 29 & 30 – 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
December 31 – 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
January 1 – No staff
January 2 – 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Christmas Classes
We will be holding 3 drop-in classes during the week of Christmas.
December 22 – 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. – Christmas Circuit with Wellness staff
December 23 – 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. – Cycle with Randy

STAFF UPDATE

You have probably already seen our new Fitness Consultant Randy Smith in the Wellness Centre, but we would like to officially welcome him to the team! He is a recent graduate from the University of Calgary, earning a degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise and Health Physiology.
In the new year Randy will be instructing the Wednesday Full Body Circuit as well as a cycle class. He has recently completed his AFLCA Group Exercise Instructor training and will be putting his newfound knowledge to good use.

GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES

We’ve added some exciting new classes to the winter schedule in addition to the classes you’ve come to know and love. The new classes include Commit to Fit, Golf, Conditioning, HardCORE, Kickboxing Level 2 and drop-in Zumba.

The winter session of registered classes begins January 19th.
To reduce the cost and environmental impact, printed copies of the group exercise schedule are not available at the fitness desk. We encourage you to visit the Wellness Centre website to view class schedules.

/ Around the World Challenge

Worried that your New Year’s Resolutions will be forgotten by February? We have another incentive challenge coming up in early February 2015 to keep you right on track! This program will run for 6 weeks and requires participants to sign up in teams of two. Much like the reality TV show The Amazing Race, teams will have to complete certain tasks while ‘traveling’ to various exotic locations around the world each week. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for more information coming soon.

DID YOU KNOW?

Returning Your Weights
Be kind to your fellow employees and reduce the risk of injury by putting your weights away when you are finished using them. Others may not be as strong as you are. This allows other members to know that you are finished with the weights, keeps the fitness floor tidy and prevents you from spending your exercise time looking for weights.
/ Equipment Usage Time Limits

It’s cold outside and most people have returned to the indoors for their workouts. This means that the Wellness Centre has gotten busier and that we have members waiting for equipment. Please limit your cardioequipment usage to 30 minutes when others are waiting and particularly during the peak usage time of 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

/ Cell Phone Usage
Caution: Talking on your phone while exercising may result in injury to yourself or others. If you must take a call, please move to the elevator lobby or to the green sofa outside the main fitness office. Cell phone and/or camera usage is strictly prohibited in the change rooms because it makes other members feel uncomfortable. However, using your cell phone to listen to music on the exercise floor is perfectly acceptable.
