I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you forall the Group Commanders working together in coming up with the new group realignmentfor Texas Wing. This realignment will help strengthen our program, especially at the unit level. Over the next several weeks, I would ask all of you to continue to work together to help with a smooth transition. Special Thanks goes to Lt Col Jo Ann Ridgway, Group 1 Commander; Lt Col Chris Bujanos, Group 3 Commander; Lt Col Jack Faas, Group 5 Commander; Lt Col Dennis Bennett, Group 7 Commander; Major Al Weaver, Group 8 Commander; and Capt Jim Tarbett, Group 11 Commander for their service to CAP, Texas Wing and their respective Groups. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in your new roles within CAP.

As we continue to work through this process, I would ask all the new group commanders, with the help of the past group commanders, to introduce yourself to the units within the new groups. In addition, as you put together your respective group staffs I do expect a good cross utilization from all your members within your group. With this in mind, the group staffs should only be enough to manage your respective groups and to fill the required positions. A couple of additional comments:

The main objective for all Group Headquarters is toSUPPORT THE SQUADRONS WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE GROUPS. EACH GROUP IS AN EXTENSION OF THE WING STAFF. ALL GROUPS ARE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE ALL THE NECESSARY TRAINING, GUIDANCE AND MENTORING TO THEIR SQUADRONS SO THEY BECOME VERY SUCCESSFUL IN EXECUTING THE MISSIONS OF CIVIL AIR PATROL.

As a reminder, no vehicle or aircraft will be assigned to a Group Headquarters, unless directed by the Wing Commander for temporary purposes. In addition, all vehiclesand aircraft are to remain in their current location. If you believe you need to move an asset within your group, please give me a call first before making any moves.

A draft copy of Texas Wing supplement to CAPR 20-1 have been sent to the Group Commanders for review. The new supplement should be released within the next 30 days.

I'm really excited with the new Group realignment and the many improvements we will be able to accomplish. We'll be updating are Wing Goals soon. One of the goals is to make availablesome key tools to help theWing Staff, Groupsand Squadrons to better support required meetings and training requirements through the use of conference calls and internet meetings. Additional information concerning the new tools will be released soon.

Sincerely,

Col E.
