Kimba wants to say hello

Kimba wants to say hello, say hello, say hello,

Kimba wants to say hello, say hello to you.

Shall we say hello to him, hello to him, hello to him?

Shall we say hello to him, say hello to Kimba?

Shall we wave hello to him......

Shall we sing some songs with him…..

If you’re happy and you know it

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands,

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands,

If you’re happy and you know it, and you really want to show it,

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.

swing your arms……tickle your tummy…..turn around….bounce around…

Jumping Music

(Bounce around to the music!)

Okey Cokey

You put your right foot in, your right foot out,

In, out, in, out and shake it all about.

You do the okey cokey and you turn around,

That’s what it’s all about.

Oh, okey cokey cokey,

Oh, okey cokey cokey,

Oh, okey cokey cokey,

Knees bent, arms stretched,

Ra ra ra.

left foot….right hand….left hand….whole self

(If there are several of you, stand in a circle doing the appropriate actions and move towards the centre of the circle for ‘oh okey cokey’ Younger children can be swung into the centre. All this can easily be done on the spot as an individual)

Kangaroos like to hop

© Leon Rosselson

Kangaroos like to hop, hop, hop, hop, hop,

And frogs like to leap….weeeeeee!

And horses like to trot, trit, trot, trit, trot,

But I like to fall in a heap….weeeeeee!

(Do all the actions as the words suggest. Older children can leap forward like a frog and younger children can be swung forwards)

We’re going up

We’re going up, we’re going up,

As high as we can go……..

We’re going down, we’re going down,

We’re going way down low…

Up, up, up, up, up, up, up…

Down, down, down, down, down.

(Slowly reach up as high as you can, then go down slowly to the floor)

See the little rabbits sleeping

See the little rabbits sleeping,

‘Til it’s nearly noon.

Come and let us wake them up

With a merry tune.

Oh, how still!

Are they ill?

Wake up soon………..

Hop little rabbits, hop, hop, hop,

Hop little rabbits, hop, hop, hop,

Hop little rabbits, hop, hop, hop.

Oh the grand old Duke of York

Oh the grand old Duke of York,

He had ten thousand men,

He marched them up to the top of the hill,

And he marched them down again.

And when they were up they were up,

And when they were down they were down,

And when they were only half way up,

They were neither up nor down.

waved their flags….played their drums……played their trumpets….

(March around waving flags and playing drums and trumpets…or pretend to! If you’re in the car you could march your hands on your laps etc)

Hey Mr Knickerbocker

Hey Mr Knickerbocker, boppity bop,

I like the way you boppity bop.

Listen to the sound it makes on your knees……

Listen to the sound it makes on your knees…….

With your hands……on the floor……with your tongue….

(Tap your hand on your lap/the floor in time to the rhyme and try to keep in time through the gap. You can make a clicking, raspberry sound etc for the last verse)

Here we go round the mulberry bush

Here we go round the mulberry bush,

The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush.

Here we go round the mulberry bush,

On a cold and frosty morning.

Eat our food…..drink our juice…..wash our face…….brush our teeth……

put on our clothes……brush our hair

(Join hands and walk or skip around, stopping to do the appropriate actions for each verse…or just do the actions if you’re sitting!)

As I was walking down the street

As I was walking down the street,

Down the street, down the street,

A friend of mine I chanced to meet,

Hey ho, hey ho, hey ho!

So……..riggety jig and away we go, away we go, away we go!

Riggety jig and away we go,

Hey ho, hey ho, hey ho!

(Walk along, join hands with a friend and then skip along together…or bounce gently and slowly on a lap for the ‘walking’ section then bounce much faster for the ‘riggety jig’ section!)

I looked down the road

© Poppy Hyde

I looked down the road and what did I see?

A great big car going right past me.

‘Brum brum brum’ went the great big car,

Driving right past me.

I looked down the lane and what did I see?

A great big bike going right past me.

‘Ting-a-ling-a-ling’ went the great big bike,

Going right past me.

I looked down the river and what did I see?

A great big boat going right past me.

‘Swish swish swish’ went the great big boat,

Sailing right past me.

I looked in the sky and what did I see?

A great big plane going right past me.

‘Neeaaow, neeaaow, neeaaow’ went the great big plane,

Flying right past me

I looked down the street and what did I see?

A great big bus going right past me.

‘Brum brum brum’ went the great big bus,

Driving right past me.

I looked down the track and what did I see?

A great big train going right past me.

‘Chuff chuff chuff’ went the great big train,

Going right past me.

(Make the noise of each one or use the hand signs for each….or use the song to sing about things you see as you’re driving along in the car or walking along the street)

Picnic song

© Poppy Hyde

Let’s have a picnic, let’s have a picnic.

Let’s have a picnic, let’s have a picnic,

And munch a lovely picnic lunch.

Let’s have a sandwich…..some fruit…..a drink…..some salad…...some fruit…..a cake…

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes,

And eyes and ears and mouth and nose!

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!

(Put your hands on each part of your body as it’s mentioned, being very gentle with your eyes. The song gets faster and faster so the muddle that follows is quite fun!!)

Toumba

(The music gets faster and faster – good for dancing, clapping or for playing instruments)

I would like to ride a pony

I would like to ride a pony,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig-a-jog jee.

Not too fat and not too boney,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig-a-jog jee.

For I’d like to go for a ride

All around the countryside….

With a jig jog, jig jog, jig jog, jig jog,

Jig jog, jig-a-jog jee

With a jig jog, jig jog, jig jog, jig jog,

Jig jog, jig-a-jog jee.

(Use as a bouncing lap song, getting faster for the second part of the song…or pretend you’re riding a pony!)

Sing for your daddy

Sing for your daddy, my little laddie,

Sing for your daddy when the boat comes in.

You shall have a fishy on a little dishy,

You shall have a fishy when the boat comes in.

Sing for your daddy, sing for your mummy,

Sing for your daddy when the boat comes in.

You shall have a fishy on a little dishy,

You shall have a fishy when the boat comes in.

(A bouncing, rocking lap song)

Ring a ring o’ roses

Ring-a-ring o’ roses,

A pocket full of posies,

A-tishoo! A-tishoo!

We all fall down.

Fishies in the water,

We all jump up

With a one, two, three.

(Hold hands, moving around in a circle, then fall down. Make a wiggly fish with your hand and pretend little fish are swimming in between you in the middle of the circle)

Open, shut them,

Open, shut them,

Give a little clap!

Lay them in your lap.

Creep them, creep them,

Creep them, creep them

Right up to your chin.

Open up your little mouth,

But do not let them in.

(Open and shut your two hands as you hold them out in front of you, then lay them gently in your lap. You can creep/tickle your fingers all the way from your toes up to your chin, then hide them - behind your back, sit on them etc - but make sure you don’t let them in to your mouth!)

Leg over leg

Leg over leg

As the dog went to Dover.

When he came to a style –

Whoooh!

He went over!

(Sit the child on your lap, if they’re small, facing out and lift each of their legs over the other in turn – only works if they go floppy enough! – then lift their legs up high as they go over the style! Bigger children can put each of their legs over the other in turn then lean back lifting their legs up high.)

Five little ducks

Five little ducks went swimming one day,

Over the pond and far away.

Mummy duck said, “Quack! Quack! Quack!”

But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks went swimming one day,

Over the pond and far away.

Mummy duck said, “Quack! Quack! Quack!”

But only three little ducks came back.

Three little ducks went swimming one day,

Over the pond and far away.

Mummy duck said, “Quack! Quack! Quack!”

But only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks went swimming one day,

Mummy duck said, “Quack! Quack! Quack!”

But only one little duck came back.

One little ducks went swimming one day,

Over the pond and far away.

Mummy duck said, “It’s time for tea!”

And all the five little ducks came back.

(Hold five fingers up on one hand and pretend they are swimming along in front of you, then disappear behind you. Use the other hand to be mummy duck quacking for the ducks to return but when your other hand re-appears hold up only four fingers. Continue like this until only one duck disappears behind you, then have all five fingers returning when mummy duck says it’s time for tea)

Over in the meadows

Over in the meadow,

In the sand, in the sun,

Lives an old mother turtle

And her little turtle, one.

“Dig!” said the mother,

“I dig,” said the one,

So they dug and were glad

In the sand, in the sun.

Over in the meadow,

Where the stream runs so blue,

Lives an old mother fish

And her little fishies two.

“Swim!” said the mother,

“We swim,” said the two,

So they swam and were glad

Where the stream runs so blue.

Over in the meadow,

In a hole in a tree,

Lives an old mother bird

And her little birdies three.

“Sing!” said the mother,

“We sing,” said the three,

So they sang and were glad

In the hole in the tree.

(Use as a winding down song but if you want to do actions you can pretend to dig with two hands like a turtle, and use signing for the fish and the birds)

Sometimes I like to walk

© Poppy Hyde

Sometimes I like to walk and talk about,

Sometimes I like run and jump about,

And sometimes when I get into a muddle,

All I want is just a little cuddle.

Sometimes I like to splish and splosh about,

Sometimes I like to flip and flop about,

And sometimes, if I step into a puddle,

All I want is just a little cuddle.

(You can gently do actions to the song eg walking, running, jumping fingers on your knees and having a cuddle…splashing action with hands, flip flop from side to side and end with another cuddle)

Skye boat song

(Music for gentle dancing and swaying or for cuddling)

Two little eyes

Two little eyes to look around,

Two little ears to hear each sound,

One little nose to smell what’s sweet
