1. My Work: How Does itReflect God’s Character?

God designed and purposed for all of creation to reveal God. All is to reflect God and his nature—his goodness, glory, power, and wisdom. This especially includes people as we are made in His image. God made us to reflect His likeness toone another and to the world. (more)

Some character attributes of God: love (the highest good for the other person), goodness, excellence, beauty, integrity, justice, mercy, compassion, perseverance, perfection, etc.

2. My Work: How Does it Make Life and the World Better?

God’s first command in Genesis 1 is to rule over the earth and life, to make it flourish (the Cultural Commission). In short, we are to take all that God has given us and make life and the world better. This command is fundamental—it is not optional. It is universal—it applies to every person. It is all-inclusive—it applies to every area of life. God made the world perfect but He did not make it complete. We are to steward and make something more with it…(more).

3. My Work: How Does it Love My Neighbor?

Galatians 5:14 says all of God’s commands can be summarized by this: We are to love God and our neighbor. The principle way we demonstrate our love for God is by loving our neighbor. To love others is the irreducible minimum of God’s commands. In its simplest terms, to love our neighbor is to seek the highest good of the other person and do it. It is to live in a way that benefits others. It is to work in a way that seeks the good and benefits the other person. This is God’s design for our lives and work—His design that leads to flourishing. (more)

3.1 Tolove my neighbor or seek the highest good of another is first to recognize and value one another as made equal in dignity and worth. (more)

3.2 A second way to seek the highest good for the other person is tovalue one another as made unique. All persons are created unique by God. No two persons are alike! God made us unique for a purpose. (more)

4. How Do I Experience God in My Work?

God designed people to know and love Him. Our well-being and ability to flourish hinges on this point. It is not because God has a need to be known and loved. It is because we are transcendent beings.(more)
