•Look for and make use of structure.

•Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

  1. Follow all school rules.
  2. Treat the teacher and all students with respect.

MATERIALS NEEDED - these need to be brought everyday!

•Textbook: Springboard: Algebra II(there is a $20 replacement fee if you lose your book)

•Graphing Calculator –You MUST have a graphing calculator! I do not have any in class for you to borrow. I recommend purchasing the TI-84 plus. If you do not own one there is a rental option available through the math department. (Please ask for a contract & information. If financial assistance is needed please contact the Family Resource Center.) We will use this calculator every day and it is allowed on the ACT and EOC.

•Something to write with, preferably a pencil.

•Binder - there needs to be 4 sections: bellringers/exitslips, notes(extra paper), homework and reference.

•Agenda –this is your hall pass

GRADING - Your grades will be calculated using the points system.

•Classwork - graded on effort

Bell ringers & exit slips will also be checked for completion and effort.

There will be other times when participation grades will be taken for in-class activities.

•Homework –assigned daily and graded on accuracy and effort.

Immediately your homework is to be out next to your binder while you work on the bell ringer. As you work on the bell ringer I will check for completion of the previous night’s homework for 2 points.

I will go over a couple questions as a class before it could be collected

After questions are answered I will draw a card to see if it is turned in for accuracy. A black card means it will not be collected and red means it will be turned in.

At the top of each day’s assignment you must have your name, date, class period, page number and problem numbers.

  • Late Work –

You will have two tickets a quarter to allow you the opportunity to turn in two assignments late, with no penalty.

Late work will only be accepted until the day of that current chapter’s test and missing work form must be attached.

If you keep your tickets, you will get bonus at the end of the quarter.

Once you have used your two tickets, you will not be allowed to turn in any work late.

•Quizzes –graded on accuracy

Will be given after every activity in Springboard or as needed

Intended to be short, less than 30 minutes

Multiple choice and short answer

•Tests –graded on accuracy

There will be more than just the embedded assessment

There will also be multiple choice and other short answers

Test are modeled after the ACT and EOC

Retakes are only offered if all of the conditions are met and the grade will not be higher than a 65%:

Received less than a 65%

There is NO missing homework for the chapter

Taken within two weeks of the original test date

ATTENDANCE:

•Excused Absences –you have 2 school days for every day you missed to make up the work for full credit.

•Unexcused Absences –you cannot make up any work missed!

•Field Trips/Pre-arranged Absences –since they are prearranged you must return to class with the homework completed. If not, the work will be considered late since you knew you were going to be out. If you feel that you will need tutoring over the topic, you must set up a tutoring appointment before your absence in order to be able to turn the work in late without penalty.

•Tests/Quizzes are made up after school only!
