This is a TEMPLATE that District 45 can use to post NEWS online to www.45.AA-Carolina.org
FONT SELECTION: Worldwide Website Research shows that VERDANA is considered the easiest to read online, and this is a major factor in verdana being the #1 most popular online font. This is the font used in the District 45 Website. Tahoma is considered #2. Arial is #3.
FONT SIZE: 16 point for MAIN TITLES, 14 for SUB TITLES, 12 for BIG text, 10 for small text
FILE FORMAT:
To Update the PDF posted online, simply use this WORD DOC as a TEMPLATE. When ready to save, save the document as district45news.doc. Always keeping the file name the same helps make sure that when the updated file is posted online, it automatically replaces the existing online file.
If there is a need to post old NewsLetters online in an “Archive Section”, then yes, the name will need to be modified to match the date. File name for dated documents should be:
district45news_2011-0319.doc (for March 19, 2011)
For website use, it’s best to post docs online as a PDF (Portable Document File). The main advantages are:
1. for most viewers, it “locks” the document to prevent unauthorized editing.
2. preserves formatting for all viewers
3. helps Apple computer users and mobile device users (smartphone, iPod, iPad, etc.) view the document.

CONVERT .DOC to .PDF
Many PC’s / Printers now come with the option to save DOCS as PDFS. Click FILE, Click PRINT, Select Print PDF to save as PDF. To Upload to the website server, you’ll need FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software
