ACCH Membership Meeting
Date/Time: January 27, 2014 3:00pm-4:30pm Location: 200 Henry Johnson Boulevard
Attendance: See sign in sheet.
Call to Order: Kathy Leyden called the meeting to order.
Board Report/CARES Website/New ACCH List Serve
The 2014 Board and Membership meeting dates were presented. Starting in February, meeting reminders will not be sent to membership. All meeting announcements and important information will be posted on the CARES website. Members are encouraged to join the list serve to ensure that they are receiving needed information in a timely manner.
Sub-Committee Reports:
Governance Committee: Liz Hitt and Kristen Groux reported that the committee had meet and are currently reviewing Code of Conduct polices from other CoCs. The will be modifying these already created documents in order to meet our needs.
Continuum of Care Operations Committee:
System Collaboration Committee: Maria Markovics reported the Committee last met on December 9th and are rescheduling the 1/6/14 meeting. They will also be working on the Coordinated Assessment System that we need to have in place by August of this year.
NOFA: Mary Ellen Brown reported that during the Committee’s last meeting the group spent a great deal of time discussing how to document leverage sources. Currently two agencies are not able to meet the 150% requirement. This will result in our CoC not receiving the full 5 points in this section, however we do not know how much of a deduction there will be. The NOFA committee will either develop a Leveraging Committee or add this task to their committee so we are not having the same issues for the next application.
2013/2014 CoC Application
CARES has been working on the application. It is due 2/3/14. There is a call in meeting on Wednesday at 10:00 am for all agencies who are submitting an application this year. Specifics regarding the submission will be discussed during this call in.
Point-in-Time Count
This will occur on 1/30/14. We need to count sheltered homeless individuals as well as unsheltered homeless. Once again, HAC is playing a large role in this process.
Community Events/Fundraisers
The Rosanne Cash concert has been rescheduled to 3/5/14. A reception prior to the show will still be held.
HATAS will be holding their Diaper Drive which will run 2/7-2/21/14. Diapers and diapering supplies may be dropped off at several Key Bank locations as well as HATAS. HATAS also recently distributed coats from their coat drive and were able to assist many people, including local elementary schools, with obtaining warm winter coats this season.
Program Announcements/Updates:
Kathy reported that Cheryl Hage-Perez is no longer the Executive Director of Support Ministries. Their board has contacted CARES and they have designated a person to be in charge of ensuring that their renewal projects are completed on time. They are in the process of naming a replacement.
The SSVF criterion has been changed in terms of how a person is deemed to be VA eligible. Soldier On and Albany Housing Coalition are working to find assistance for those people that they can no longer serve.
Albany County Department of Mental Health has two openings in their S+C programs. The individuals must meet the definition of chronically homeless in addition to having HIV/AIDS, or a Substance Abuse diagnoses, or have a Mental Illness. Contact Tara at 477-4565 if you have any questions or to make a referral.
A report regarding Code Blue was distributed. We have had 35 Code Blue nights and 502 bed nights (not an unduplicated count) so far this year. HATAS is working with Saratoga and Glens Falls to develop a Code Blue system in their communities.
