  1. UPDATE PROBLEM SOLVING GROUPS:

Problem solving groups are for those long term ongoing issues, that tend to not have an impact on the community, but they will affect BTP and particular community groups. These also tend to be the biggest crimes.

Problem Solving Plans are for the short term issues that can hope to be solved in a 6-8 week period.

Bike Thefts
OPEN PSP / This psp was opened at the last pact meeting.
Abandoned bikes have been removed from the station and from the bike stands. This will assist for CCTV viewing and investigations.
There is a bike event tomorrow for the early/morning peak commuters, and there is another bike event planned for 27th august for the late/evening peak commuters.
The abandoned bikes are donated to the Peabody Trust.
A bluetooth device will also be initiated to send messages for Theft of passenger property and for bike thefts.
KT Network Rail reported bike parts have been recovered and he will speak with Mark McKevitt to put up posters for this.
AJ hopes to see an impact/reduction of psp/bike thefts
KT: CCTV coverage bike rack movement possibility from platform 1 awaiting confirmation regarding covert cameras plan to put bike racks behind the ticket barriers

Integrated volunteer night turn team into NPT to target ASB.
THIS PSP WILL BE CLOSED AS THERE HAS BEEN A REDUCTION. HOWEVER, TARGETING ASB AFTER 2000 HOURS IS CURRENTLY A POLICING TARGET, SO THIS WILL STILL BE TACKLED.

In April, the biggest crime was TPP, which accounted for 9 out of 26 crimes. There were a total of 26 crimes recorded at Kings Cross in April.

In May, the biggest crime was TPP, which accounted for 10 out of 42 crimes. There were a total of 42 crimes recorded at Kings Cross in May.

Increase in crimes, mainly TPP and bike crimes.

Crime figures 96 33% detection rate

Beggars – charity box

AJ asks if Network Rail/TOCs can provide money. KT to ask Kate Anderson if Network Rail can fund this which will be about £800

JB (Rev’d): the charity should fund the box

KT: to ask if we can put the charity box at the front of the station and ifNetwork Rail wish to donate the money to the box

AJ suggests Mungos charity . They will see if the charity box has an effect on the beggars so for a routine late turn plain clothed patrols

JB: 1 hostel day centre for homeless people young people to get them on the right path. Charity is in Chalton Street. New Horizons/Railway Children

JD: can we link Harry Potter up with the charity box?

KT: He will look into it

Temporary walking/passenger route

FS: steel rails change to walking routes 10pm near surburban train. From st pancras Northern ticket hall or turn surburban shed on platform 8 which is a longer walk. This will be from 31st August to 5th September and it may be abusive passengers. AJ will look at responding to it and will keep an eye on it. This may be 10pm to midnight. AJ will support staff.

Call for BTP assistance procedures:

KT raised: ECML contact control room and phone network rail and phone control and MWR contact BTP 2nd hand info to go from train to control to BTP. Normally arriving trains AJ to look at

Alcohol and dry trains:

FS & KT raised boundary issues regarding alcohol

BTP support ECML REOs upto Peterborough. BTP happy to support Hull too. JD suggests upto Grantham or Stevenage

AJ only upto Stevenage. JD yes especially football days. Nights/afternoons and regular patrols as well as football other times too
