Mr. Alan A. Malinchak is the VP/Chief Learning Officer at ManTech International (ManTech), where he leads ManTech University (MTU), enterprise education and training as well as alliance partnerships with academic universities, professional learning associations and training and education vendors.

Al has over thirty-five years of leadership, management, administrative and investigative experience and possesses an extensive commercial and public sector employment history of increasing leadership positions. His experience in academia solidifies his practitioner experience with sound theoretical principles which he has demonstrated through professional leadership development, strategic change initiatives, and project and organizational management initiatives. Al has held academic positions such as a tenured Associate Professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Virginia, and both a graduate and undergraduate Adjunct Professor at George Mason University, he has also published Crime and Gerontology, several academic articles, unclassified publications for the FBI and most recently was featured as the guest editor of Training Industry Quarterly, Summer 2010 issue, a co-author in the Winter 2009 issue of Training Industry Quarterly “Coaching and Mentoring a L+D Legacy”, as well as co-authoring “Leading by Example: Exemplifying The Behavior You Want To See In Others” in the March 2009 issue of T+D Magazine, and appeared on the June 2009 videocast of Chief Learning Officer on the topic of “Knowledge Transfer at ManTech International."

Al completed his Ph.D. coursework in Business Administration from NorthcentralUniversity; has an A.B.D. in Criminal Justice Management from The Rutgers University; an M.S. in Criminology from The Florida State University; a B.G.S. with Distinction in Social Sciences from The University of Michigan; and several executive education certificates and certifications. Al is a retired FBI Special Agent (1984-2004) and has an Honorable Discharge, as well as being a Disabled American Veteran, U.S. Navy, 1969- 1973; and, serves as a member on the Board of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the Armed Forces Electronics and Communications Association (AFCEA), and several advisory boards for industry training and education publications

About This Course:

Participants will examine all four generations (Traditionalist, Baby Boomer, Generation X and Generation Y) values/characteristics in relation to the realization of the “Perfect Storm” upon organizations regarding the need for qualified individuals and organizational executives to assume the roles and responsibilities of retiring staff.

Additionally, participants will learn how to target the Gen X and Gen Y into a career where they are more apt to be recruited and remain loyal (retention) to the organization. Additionally, a practical view of how to communicate and provide an environment within which each employee, regardless of the generation group they represent, can become a productive and enthusiastic employee. When recruiting, hiring and retaining the Gen X and Gen Y employees, particular care must be given to their needs – the workforce is changing!
