Any ELCA student attending an ELCA Seminary in preparation for parish ministry, missionary service or ministry in music is eligible to apply for this Scholarship. The value of this scholarship will be determined in consultation with the FLC Foundation board, based on value of endowment. Students from all synods of the ELCA are eligible to apply, but preference will be based on the criteria listed at the end of this application. Deadline for application is June 30th, of each year.

Criteria for Awarding Scholarship:

1)Member of ELCA seeking a Masters Degree to serve a ministry of the ELCA

2)Preference will be given to applicants by geographic/congregational identity as follows:

Member of

1. FirstLutheranChurch in Brookings, SD
2. AscensionLutheranChurch in Brookings, SD
3. Medary Conference of the South Dakota Synod
4. South Dakota Synod
5. ELCA at large

NOTE: If there is a student (or students) at level a, the scholarship will be granted fully at that level.

If not, then level b will be used, and so on.

3)Should there be multiple applicants at one of these levels, evaluation will consider:

1. Demonstrated Financial Need
2. Call Story / Journey
3. How and where they plan to serve the larger church (both geographically and in what capacity – MDiv, MA, MSM, etc)

4)Seminary Scholarship review team will include:
