STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Dear Applicant,
Please keep the eligibility, ongoing commitment and instructions sheet for your records. Ongoing commitment is required in order to remain eligible for the scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
- Interest and desire to pursue a career in the aviation/airport industry and seeking a degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Engineering or Finance. Applicant must be seeking a BS or BA.
- Admitted by an accredited school or university for the current school term in which you are applying for a scholarship.
- Demonstration of a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstration of involvement in community activities and extracurricular activities.
- Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
- A commitment to involvement in furthering the mission of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (“AMAC”) by participating in the AMAC Program.
- Successful completion and submission of the Application Materials as further outlined.
Ongoing Commitment
The scholarship recipient will be required to continually maintain all of the eligibility requirements as outlined above during the term AND provide supporting documentation for reapplication during succeeding terms. In addition, he/she will be required to:
- Become a student member of AMAC; annual membership fee is $25.
- Communicate with AMAC once each semester during school term scholarship is awarded.
- Provide semester progress reports to the Aviation and professional Development (“APD”) Committee. Progress reports are defined as telephone calls or email correspondence to an APD Committee member.
- Send a copy of your grades to AMAC upon completion of semester to show proof of maintaining 3.0 GPA.
- Students are eligible for two (2) scholarship awards but must reapply each application period.
Instructions for Submittal of Application Materials
Applicants Must Do the Following:
- Complete current Scholarship Application.
- Enclose transcripts to show proof of 3.0 GPA.
- Enclose a one-page essay on your career goals and why you have chosen your particular field of study. (Re-applicants: Write a one-page essay on how AMAC has been instrumental in your career goals and how you have contributed to AMAC).
- Essay Format guidelines are as follows: Compose a 150-200 word essay that expounds on your career goals, key academic accomplishments, and why you have chosen your particular field of study. All sentences should be double-spaced with 1.5 margins and fonts should be 12 pt. Your full name should be on each typed page.
- Submit at least two letters of recommendation from persons, who are not relatives that can comment on your academic and career goals. Recommendation letters should contain the following information provided by your reference: Name, title, address, contact number, email and signature of reference person. Consideration will be given to instructors and community activity advisors.
- The Scholarship Committee must receive all materials no later than specified schedule as listed in section (Application Submittal Process). All applicants will receive a written confirmation of receipt and award status.
- Student must be a US citizen attending a college within the United States of America.

Scholarship Awards
AMAC Member Scholarship—Awards are offered to Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) members, their spouses, and their children. Scholarship recipients can be enrolled in any approved higher education institution pursuing aviation or non-aviation related degrees and must demonstrate a GPA of 2.5 or higher. All eligible applicants receive scholarships so long as funds are available. The Professional Development Committee grants three (3) $2,000 scholarship awards each semester. Applicants for these scholarships must provide a reference letter of endorsement by an active AMAC member in order to be considered.
AMAC Aviation and Professional Development Scholarship—The AMAC Aviation & Professional Development Committee grants three (3) $2,000 scholarships each year to a number of students who are enrolled in aviation related programs and have a grade point average 3.0 or higher. Students applying for the APD Scholarship must be at the grade level of sophomore or higher. Eligibility is unrelated to membership in AMAC.
