Details of Mandatory Vocabulary Terms

Purpose: Demonstrating historical knowledge and understanding is an important part of a history class. During the year you will receive three lists of “mandatory terms” to define and demonstrate your understanding of historical context. The goal is to understand why the term or event occurred and what it can tell us about the historical era as you make different connections between the terms.

Cover Design: Composition book must be decorated with a collage of pictures (front and back) from the time period studied 1840-1941 in America. Clear large masking tape must be used to secure the cover or “laminate” it. All pages must be numbered. Your name, the title “AICE Vocabulary Terms”, my name and your period must appear on the front cover.

Directions: Use your own words when writing down the definitions. Use a composition book to complete your work. You must HAND WRITE the information in your composition book in blue or black ink.

Proper setting of paper: Do not write on back of paper; one term per page, all pages must be numbered. You may print the pictures of individuals, events, or any other visual.

TERM, EVENT, OR KEY FIGURE
Define it – Use your own words to define the term, event, or key figure. Include detail information.
Demonstrate Understanding - What are the causes or consequences of the term? Why is it important?
Compare – What other event, term, or individual is it associated with? How does it link to important content or topics within the era?
Illustration – Create a visual of things or persons related to the term, event, or individual.

·  You will create a visual timeline for each nine weeks (total of three) tying in all the terms together.
