Location: Office: Woodland Hills. Services provided throughout SA2 (San Fernando Valley) + local travel, LA County

Regular Working Hours: Specific schedule arranged with Supervisor; M-F and some evenings and weekends required 24/7 on-call responsibility

Reports to: Under the general direction and supervision of the FSP Program Director the Therapist is an integral member of the FSP team, and is responsible for and provides direct mental health services and case management for clients. Services are intensive and based on need. Most services are delivered in the field.

General Responsibility: As a member of the FSP team, the Therapist facilitates the development of a treatment, in collaboration with other practitioners, such as case managers, peer advocates, nurse and/or psychiatrist. The therapist should enjoy and see the value in engaging the community and working closely with families and other key professionals to help in the recovery process of the client. Services are provided as a team.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Screens and interviews referred clients and significant others as appropriate, to assess the need for services; Work with the DMH navigators and gatekeeper to assure a smooth referral, admission and/or discharge process.
  • Conduct strength-based, culturally competent therapeutic services, consisting of individual, family and/or group therapy as well as individualized intakes and/or other assessments as appropriate.
  • Provide services in community or in the field consistent with contractual, programmatic and funding source requirements.
  • Assess and monitor client and/or family progress, evaluate outcomes and collaborate with the client and team to make adjustments to the treatment as deemed appropriate.
  • Availability by phone or in person to assist in crisis intervention and provide support and assistance in problem resolution during scheduled and non-scheduled, after hours and weekends for assigned and team clients.
  • Provide effective individual mental health rehabilitation and case management services; Ability to work with clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Conduct accurate mental health evaluations and develop treatment plans, with SMART goals and objectives.
  • Develop and facilitate groups, psychoeducational and process groups.
  • Meet Agency requirements regarding billing for reimbursable services; consistently provide services in keeping with all programmatic and contractual requirements.
  • Participate as a member of the team including participating in daily team meetings, participating in collaborative client care consultations, and providing back-up for other team members as needed.
  • Administrative work including, but not limited to, data collection and reporting, charting and maintenance of consumer files, record-keeping in accordance with all contractual requirements.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities.
  • Organize and facilitate consumer groups and community building events as needed.
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health field with BBS registration
  • Must be a Licensed professional or License-eligible, i.e., LMFT, LCSW, or Associate MFT, ASW, PCC
  • Must be in good standing with the Board of Examiners. Must maintain current license
  • Two years’ experience in a mental health field
  • High preference will be given to applicants with FSP or FSP like, intensive services experience
  • Bilingual skills highly preferred (i.e., Spanish or other language relevant to the clients’ needs)
  • Experience working with ASAM criteria/DMH paperwork
  • Knowledge of Evidence Based Practices is also highly preferred
  • Must pass all applicable health, and background checks, such as LiveScan and DMV clearances
  • Knowledge of mainstream benefits programs, case management principles and intervention techniques appropriate for hard-to-reach, difficult to serve populations are essential. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of harm reduction principles.
  • Experience with culturally diverse mental health with co-existing substance abuse diagnosis populations
  • Ability to prioritize work and complete it with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work interdependently, constructively and effectively with others in a community-based treatment setting

  • Knowledge of DMH standards and required documentation
