After we created a survey , we started to figure out how important internet and social networks are, even we or our computer can be in danger. We found ten persons of the same age, five young persons older than us, five persons who are younger than us and of course, our group! We have investigated their answers very pacient.
We started with us and the people who are the same ages and each of us are members of at least one social network. The most popular it is Facebook and then comes Hi5. We are using them everyday but we are not obsessed over them, we just enjoy to spend our time with chatting with new people and check what is their opinion about us in different comments. Actually we do not meet people in Chat boxes that often, only if it’s necessary, maybe MSN it’s the most accesed in our group, but that’s all. About buying things on the internet… We don’t have the same opinions. It can be a little bit dangerous because we can be deceived while buying through the internet, but we didn’t notice that since now.Half of us said that it’s better to shop online because it’s more practic and easier, all you got to do is to wait the mail and you are ready. But, some of use said that it’s not indicated because it’s not that secure, you don’t know how good is that product, maybe it’s not tasty and fresh if we are talking about food, or the product doesn’t have a good fabric or has a defect if we are talking about clothes. So, we decided together that we actually don’t buy things on the internet that often, only if it’s in case and we simply can not find them anywhere.
Talking about revealing personal informations on the chat box, we really have one opinion that it really is the best. We think that we shouldn’t reveal our personal informations because you really don’t know who is behind the screen and what’s in his/her mind. It can be a mature man or woman that can pretend that it is just a child of 11 years old and wants to meet you. It really is not secure, a lot of children were kidnaped because they revealed their information to the persons they actually didn’t know at all.
In our opinion, we saw that lot of children are so ironic and they think that they really are cool and awesome on the comments that they entered there. But they forgot that it is real world and you can’t just be annoying and sarcastic with other people, because they might be intimidated and scared of your behavior or either threats. We are trying to ignore that persons and not be intrigated in their discussions, just for our safety.
But, even we pay attention of who are we talking to, our accounts can be compromised. We really trust our friends and we tell them maybe our password, but it’s not that good because you never know what they are going to do with it. They can spread your personal information all over the internet so all of the people can know where you live, what’s your phone number, etc.
We started to ask five young persons who are older then us,what do they think about this subject. Those are the people with ages between 18 and 25 years old. They would like to spend their time on social networks and they really do that , but really rare because they are very busy and their time don’t let them just a little bit of spare time for these social networks, maybe in the weekends and in the vacations. They are not that obsessed and interested in Facebook ,Twitter and Hi5. They fill their spare time reading a good book or hanging out in town with their friends. In one case, they told us that is better in one point that they don’t use the social networks because they are bewared of bullying and threats. They are only checking their e-mail and sometimes talking on the Messenger only with their good friends or family. They really don’t mix with people they don’t know and they actually ignore them.
But when we asked five young persons who are younger than us, the situations was completely different. They have ages between 9 and 13 years old. They are actually children and of course they love to play games online, but there might be some ,,adventurous” children that buy games and a lot of toys maybe, when their parents know nothing about them. We saw that children are very interested in 3D games and those games that have also a chat right there and you can talk with other people at the microphone that play in the same network with them.Their parents should block some sites that are violent or inappropriate for their children.
We were curious if they are using any social networks, and some of them said yes. Well we were interested if they upload photos and reveal their personal information and we were surprised that they actually do that. They tell the strangers where they live and all kind of information that shouldn’t be told. It can be very dangerous for them because they are little and helpless, because of the strangers they can be also intimidated and maybe some things that they see or some words that they learn, might not be good for their behavior because they are growing and they shouldn’t react violent and have a strange, different behavior.
When we ended this survey, we figured out that we, teenagers with ages between 13 and 18 years old are the most obsessed with this social networks!
