After School Parent Handbook

To Start: Students will receive a name tag with their schedule on it. When the bell rings at 3:20, students will go in to the lunch room, where they will receive their snack. Their After School Teacher will then pick them up from the lunch room.

Transportation: Please make sure your child knows what to do when classes are over. Does he/she ride the bus, walk home, or meet you at the west doors. First period ends at 4:25pm and second period ends at 5:15pm. All students must check out with the After School Coordinator before leaving the building.

  • BUS--There will be a bus provided after 2nd period (at 5:15) for students who live along the regular bus routes for Franklin Elementary.
  • PICK UP--Someone from the “authorized pick-up” list must come to the WEST DOORS to pick up the student. This method is recommended for smaller children who might easily get lost in the crowd. Please be prompt—Parents may be charged a late fee if their child is not picked up on time. (Older students can pick up younger siblings IF their names are on the pick-up list).
  • WALK HOME--If you would like your child to be able to walk home when the bell rings, make sure to indicate “Walk Home.”

Early Check-Outs: In order to maintain the security of our students, if a child must leave early, an adult on the “approved pick-up” list must come in to the After School office (room 130) and sign him/her out. An after school employee will then bring the student to the after school office for you to pick them up.
