Campus Tours

After asking students to read about the important student services on campus, it can be very useful to take them on a tour of some important student services. There would be no way to visit all of these in one class period, but some can be combined if the buildings are close enough.

Examples are given below with locations and a contact to arrange someone to give a brief talk to the students (if desired). They are separated by location.

  • the Student Activities Center [also International Student Center and Multicultural/Diversity Center] (Old Gym, Christian Hildebrant)
  • Fitness Center (Christian Hildebrandt)
  • the Academic Advising Center, Cashier, Registration, and Office of Financial Aid] (HCC 1st floor)
  • the Library (HCC 2nd, 2M, 3rd floors, Rich Paustenbaugh, John Burns, David Zielke)
  • the Tutoring Center (HCC 4th floor, Rowena Theiss)
  • the Writing Center (HCC 4th floor, Lauren Sypniewski)
  • the Career Center (HCC 5th floor, Steve Bringhurst)
  • Student Government (Gardner Center, Jordan Sharp)
  • Learn and Serve Center (Gardner Center, John Brooks)
  • Health and Wellness Center (34 N 600 E, Barbara Johnson)
  • Testing Center (North Plaza, Tamron Lee)
  • Disability Resource Center (North Plaza, Baako Wahabu)
  • Campus Security (Campus Security building, Ron Isaacson)

Assign students to complete the Campus Resources Quiz, which could be done on paper or on Canvas.
