INVITATION TO THE ICAO AMCP

WG-C MEETINGSIN KOBE, JAPAN

As agreed at the 8th meeting of the AMCP held in Montreal, 4- 13February2003, the next meeting of AMCP Working Groups will be held in Japan. The Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) is honored to announce the hosting of the meeting from 15th to 25th March 2002 in Kobe, Japan. Our specific arrangement for the AMCP Working Groups meeting is as follows.

1.MEETING SCHEDLE

The meetings duration is two weeks starting from 15th October (Tuesday) to 25th October (Friday) 2002.

2.MEETING PLACE

Kobe City, which is located in the west Japan, known as an international shipping port, was chosen as meeting place. Kobe is about 600km west of Tokyo and is near Kyoto, which is an ancient capital of Japan. 3. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

Arrangements have been made to Kobe Portopia Hotel next to International Conference Center Kobe where the meeting will be held. Location of the hotel and Conference Center and a special rate only for the meeting participants and their wives, if accompanied, are shown in ATTACHMENT 1 and 2. To make your hotel reservation sure, you have to fill in the attached “Application Form of Hotel Reservation for ICAO AMCP” (ATTACHMENT 2) and deliver it to the travel agent below at your discretion. Other optional tour such as staying in Tokyo, reservation of JR trains or etc. can be also made through this travel agent.

4. TRANSPORTATION TO KOBE CITY

(1)There will be a plenty of direct International flights to Kansai International Airport, which is central international airport in the western part of Japan. If you take a direct flight to Kansai International Airport, then take a jet-foil (speed boat) called K-JET to Kobe Port Island, which will take about 25 minutes from the seaport.

After getting off at Kobe City Air Terminal (K-CAT) in Kobe Port Island, there is a free shuttle bus to Kobe Portopia Hotel.

(2)In case you take a flight to New Tokyo International Airport (Narita), there are some connecting flights available to Kansai International Airport or Osaka International Airport (Itami). The flight time is about an hour. After arriving at Kansai International Airport, the access to the hotel is the same as above. If you arrive at Osaka International Airport (Itami North Terminal), then take a limousine bus to Kobe (the “Sannomiya” station), which every 20 minutes (Departure at HH:00, HH:20 and HH:40).

(3)If you arrive in New Tokyo International Airport (Narita) and decide to stay in Tokyo for a day or two, then take a limousine bus to the Tokyo Central Station, the “Shinjuku” Station or “Ikebukuro” Station according to your location in Tokyo. It usually takes about two hours. Some of the bus lines will drop you off exactly at your specific hotel. In heading for Kobe after your stay in Tokyo, there are two major options. The first option should be recommended.

(i) One option is to take “Shinkansen” or bullet Train from Tokyo Central Station to the “Shin Kobe” station, which will take about 3 hours. After getting off at the “Shin Kobe” station, either take a taxi or take a free shuttle bus to Kobe Portopia Hotel (Departure at HH:10, HH:30 and HH:50).

(ii) Another option is to take a domestic flight from Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) to Osaka International Airport (Itami), which will take one hour. After arriving at the airport, the access to the hotel is the same as the second example.

5. SPECIAL TOUR

If the WG meeting progress satisfactorily, a full day coach tour to Kyoto and Nara will be arranged on Saturday 19th October a spouse or accompanying members will be welcome to join in those tours.

6.WORKING PAPER SUBMISSION

In order to help our preparation work, we strongly urge you to submit the working papers in advance. If we receive the clean masters of the working papers for at least ten days prior to the meetings, you will not have to carry copies as we can prepare them for you before the meetings. If you fail to submit them in advance, we would appreciate it if you would bring enough copies with you to the meetings.

7.MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

(1) Exchange rate; One US Dollar equals about 120 Japanese Yen at present time. Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Exchange is also available at the Hotel.

(2) Weather; October is beginning of autumnin Japan. In general, we will have fine weather in this month. Typical temperatures in Kobe in October are around 15 degrees C minimum and 20 degrees C maximum.

9. MEETING & HOTEL REGISTRATION

10. VISAS

To obtain entry visas to JAPAN, a list of the delegates' completenames should be sent as soon as possible to the contact person sothat an invitation can be sent in the name of each individual delegate.
