TUESDAY April 18 at 7pm in Dillman 214 Bob Ringer, P.E. of the Great Lakes Corrugated Steel Pipe Association will be speaking about Sewer and Storm water Detention design. Each attendee will receive a Modern Sewer Design Manual.
Regional planning will be discussed, and as always, FREE PIZZA AND POP.

6.Young Scholars Sought For Study Trip To China
George Mason University School of Law's U.S.-China Cooperation Program in Science Policy, Research, and Education is seeking young scholars/scientists/policy experts for a study trip to China. The decade long program is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation. For a description of the program, go to
Four travel grants of $4000 each will be awarded on a competitive basis to allow young scholars to participate in the U.S.-China Forum on Science & Technology Policy, October 16-17, 2006, in Beijing. The candidates selected will also be encouraged to carry out research at Chinese science and technology institutions either before or following the forum. Persons who are undergraduate seniors through those four years past the doctorate or postdoctoral appointment are eligible to apply. Applicants are expected to have some background and interest in Chinese science/science policy.

9. Job Posting, Full Time – Mine Technical Services Department
There is an immediate opening in the Mine Technical Services Department at Boron Operations for a Surveyor.
Job Requirements:
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent course work preferred
Experience: Mine survey experience preferred, but not necessary.
Salary Grade 10
Skills:
Strong understanding of basic survey procedures and standards.
Good working knowledge of GPS systems, PenMap (or equivalent), Total Stations and laser planes. Good basic level skills in Word and Excel.
Preference will be given to applicants who have skills in AutoCAD, GIS, Vulcan and database systems and show an aptitude for self development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Some database skills would be a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Environment
Ensure compliance with the Rio Tinto Borax safety standards and procedures.
Completion of safety observations.
Attend monthly Environmental meetings.
Attend departmental safety talks and be proactive in safety issues.
Carry out housekeeping inspections as required.
Survey
Check bench and shovel elevations daily and submit report.
Check all dump elevations daily and submit report.
Layout blasts, ramps, crest lines and other designs.
Maintain lasers on dumps.
Assist Senior Surveyor with data input to Vulcan and input to Dozer 2000.
Assist Geologist with blast hole sampling
Systems
Use and maintenance of surveying equipment: GPS, lasers, trucks, etc.
