What you’ll be part of / Oxjam is a music festival with a difference. This October hundreds of gigs will take place all across the UK, all organised by dedicated volunteers who know and love their local music scene. All in aid of Oxfam.
The jewels in the Oxjam crown are the Oxjam Takeovers, organised by teams of volunteers in towns and cities across the UK.
Led by your team manager, you will work as part of a team of talented volunteers to organise a series of fundraising events, culminating in your Takeover in October. Your Takeover will be a multi-venue music event in your local area, and will include dozens of bands playing in up to 6 venues, accessed by the purchase of one wristband. Your event will be one of the 50+ Oxjam Takeover events taking place across the UK on one weekend in October.
What you’ll be doing / ·  Led by your team’s manager and working within a core team of volunteers you will help to deliver the Takeover event for your town/city. This event will take place across multiple venues on a single day, and will coordinate with events across the country on the same weekend in October. It must keep to the Takeover model as defined by Oxjam, but beyond that it’s up to you and team to create something incredible.
·  Work with the rest of the core team to identify where volunteers will be needed – fundraising events, promotions and event production will all rely on a lot of people power.
·  Design and implement recruitment strategies to get volunteers involved in the right numbers at the right time.
·  Organise and run briefings for volunteers at summer fundraisers, promotional events and, most importantly, the Takeover itself
·  Manage volunteers where necessary at events.
What skills or experience you’ll need to have / ·  An understanding of volunteer management (experience is desirable)
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·  Innovative and creative approach that can be applied to volunteer recruitment
·  Excellent organisational skills
·  The ability to work independently and under your own steam – support will be provided by your Takeover Manager and Oxfam but it is important that you feel confident recruiting and leading teams of volunteers yourself
·  A passion for supporting Oxfam’s work fighting poverty worldwide
