President Report
During the past month I had the pleasure of attending the Berri Lions handover dinner, where approximately 60 members and guests witnessed the change-over of board. It was heart -warming to realise that while the Riverland community is geographically spread it certainly comes together to share and celebrate community participation. A special note was that the age range of members and guest affirmed my belief that a strong community spirit is alive and strong in the young people of our district! It was an honour to view the touching tribute of a remarkable man who had influenced many lives before his untimely passing – Terry Kearney may you RIP and know your legacy lives on. Another highlight was to sit next to Mr Allan Thurmer who despite his years and ailing health concisely informed me of the history of the Lions Club and activities, leaving me with a take home message that fellowship, mutual respect and desire to support the community reigns strong within this group.
With the shortest day of the year, the cold arrived and ended the glorious autumn days that I love about the Riverland, never the less spring and summer are now just around the corner and with this the inspiration that new adventures, new people to meet and hope sits upon the horizon. Roll on spring:)
