¤Books need to be at or above grade level

¤At least 200+ written pages long.

¤It cannot be a book we are reading in class nor a book you have read before.

Book Report (40 points)

  1. Genre and explain how you know that is the genre (2 points)
  2. Character Description. Describe 2-3 of the main characters. Each character description should be about 4-5 sentences long. (10 points)
  3. Summary of the novel. Give a 4-5 sentence summary of the story. (5 points)
  4. Choose one main theme of the novel, and explain why it is the theme of the story, use specifics of the story to justify your point (4-6 sentences) (10 points)
  5. Name two literary devices the author used to help make this novel meaningful and interesting. Also, explain how and where they are used in the novel and why the use of this literary device enhances the meaning of the novel. (Include page number) Literary devices include: symbolism, foreshadowing, flashbacks, realistic dialogue, irony, figurative language, creative/ realistic imagery, and suspense. (10 points)

Extra Credit Option (10 points):

Read a classic novel and answer these questions in a separate paragraph:

  1. What does it mean to label a novel as classic?
  2. Explain what makes your novel a classic.
