Adobe Connect Professional Learning Series

February – March, 2014

A series of Adobe Connect web conferences are being offered for educators responsible for the learning of students in grades 7-12. Three different topics will be offered:

  1. Paying Attention to Literacy K-12: A Conversation about Literacy Learning, Teaching, and Leading

This session will provide an introduction to Paying Attention to Literacy K-12, a framework for conversations about the processes, strategies and collaborative planning for K-12 literacy learning, teaching and leading.

  1. Helping Students to Build and Use Background Knowledge

This session will provide an opportunity to explore considerations and instruction related to helping students activate and build background knowledge.

  1. Engaging Students in Metacognitive Thinking

In this session you will explore what metacognition means, why it is important to foster metacognitive habits of mind, and some practical ideas for promoting metacognitive thinking in the classroom.

You are invited to attend one, two or all of the sessions either individually or as a group with colleagues. Please use the above links to download the resource associated with the session (s) you will attend.

Required Equipment and Materials:

  • a computer with hard-wired internet connection (wireless internet might impair the experience of the Adobe Connect session)
  • a telephone (a teleconference will also be used)
  • session handouts and PowerPoint slides (to be emailed in advance so that copies can be made for the team prior to the session)
  • For a team: a data projector and speakers, a speakerphone or polycom
  • the resource associated with the session (please use the above links to download)

Note:

  • Each Adobe Connect session can accommodate up to 25 connections.
  • For teams who may be participating in the session, please register one key communicator (i.e., the ‘voice’ on the teleconference line, and the ‘hands’ on the computer).

Dates and Times:

The Adobe Connect sessions will be offered at various times and dates. Feel free to select the option for each session that best meets your needs.
