Those arriving bysea: littleboatscancome upriver from halftideonwards andlandonthemuddygravel bythepontoons outsidetheyachtclub.Beer, foodandshowers are availableintheclub.Ifyouwishtocamp,pleaseletus knowso thatwecanhaveaspacereadyfor you.

This raceis opentoall TRADITIONAL openboatsandsmall craftsuitablefor sailingin dryingwaters atskippers’ discretion,typicallythese are sailing dinghies,smacks’ boats,jewels, scows,WFOD,centreplatedayboatsetc. Mirrors are particularlyencouraged as we havea trophyfor theclass.Any child helm musthaveadult supervision either in the dinghyor inafollowing dinghy.There will besafetyboatsout,butthesecannotfolloweachchild and it is alongracecourse withstrongtides.If dinghieswith engines chooseto followtherace,theyare positively welcomedas spectators.

Alltheboatswill race together,although prizes will be awardedwithincertain classes where appropriate–we hopetohaveenough entries of each,to makeupclassesforTraditional Gaffers, “Spirit ofTradition”,Smacksboat, Scows,Newclassics,LittleGaffers,Jewels andMirrors.Pleasenote thatthis raceshouldbe ofthefriendlyvariety.Therewillbe allsortsof boats,with all sorts ofcrews–safetyandseamanshipmusttakeprecedenceover anyother sailingor racingrules.

As yousailaroundwatch outforthelocals– theseal colonycontinues to prosper,as dothe Avocets,theLittleTerns,thelittleEgrets, the LittleRinged Plovers andtheBlack-tailedGodwits.

WaltonTownisfiveminutes walk away,with fullfacilitiesforprovisions–alist ofBBs is includedattheend ofthis document.Twofriendlyboat yards are

onhandforanyoddsandends–Halls andBedwells.Water isavailableatthe club, asis beer, andshowers.

The“NancyBlackett” (Arthur Ransome’syacht) often attendstheevent, weather permitting.“Nancy” usually welcomes visitors, soif she comes andyouwouldliketo beshown aroundtheboat,pleaseletoneofus knowor contacttheskipper directly.
