Adcroft, Bradford Road (BRMC) & Widbrook practices – update May 2017
Lots of exciting things are happening in the journey towards the formation of Trowbridge Health Centre.
On the 1st April 2017 Bradford Road Medical Centre & Widbrook practices merged. Widbrook surgery is now the branch surgery of BRMC. From a patient perspective, access to the surgeries & their services remains unchanged. Patients registered at the Wingfield Road site will continue to ring the same telephone number. BRMC patients will continue to ring the number their same telephone number. On line services are unaffected.
Afternoon on call services are being run from the BRMC site. This allows for less duplication of services & an increase in pre-bookable appointments. This new service is working well.
On the 1st July Trowbridge Health Centre (THC) forms. This is the merger of BRMC & Adcroft. It will essentially be business as usual for our patients who can still continue to access the services in the way that you currently do. At this stage the merger will primarily be financial / administrative.
Adcroft site
Access
The existing entrance to Adcroft : The Prospect Entrance, will remain open for patient access, as well as a new entrance in the extension, the ‘Seymour Entrance’.
We will try and direct you to the most appropriate entrance for the clinician you are seeing – but you will be able to walk to any part of the building once in.
Each entrance will have a reception desk and self-check-in screens. The larger reception is at the Seymour Entrance
The new extension is higher than the existing building – there is a lift for disabled access (and buggies) as well as stairs. The clinical areas on the first floor are accessible by stairs or a lift.
Parking
Patient car parking, including disabled parking, will be available at both entrances. The existing car parking number plate recognition system will cover both car parks, limiting parking to 90 minutes. The larger car park will be at the Seymour Entrance
Chemist
The Boots Chemist will be moving to the other side of the building to a far larger space. It will be accessible directly from the main waiting room, as well as having its own front door
Waiting Rooms
There will be 3 waiting rooms on the ground floor and 1 sub-waiting area on the first floor. You will be directed to the most appropriate one when you check in. Calling screens will be in all the waiting rooms – so even if you end up in the wrong waiting room, you will still be called at the right time.
When Will It Be Open?
The extension to the existing Adcroft surgery will be completed towards the end of June. At that stage the existing Adcroft surgery will undergo a major refit involving closure of the current Adcroft car park & front entrance (Prospect Place entrance). Patient access to the Seymour Road building will then be through the new Seymour Road car park & entrance. This will be known as the main entrance. The works in the existing building will continue until approximately early September 2017.
When these works are completed the Prospect Place car park & entrance will be reopened & BRMC will exit its current building & move into the extended Adcroft building. At this stage the merger will be complete – a practice of 30,000 patients being run over 2 sites with unified telephone & IT systems. The organisation will run as one & most staff will work from both sites as part of their standard working rota. We strongly believe that this new organisation will allow further development of services for our patients.
We continue to work with the Roundstone Surgery on a locality level to improve services across the town.
Adcroft patients will be informed nearer the time when they are to start using the Seymour Road carpark & entrance.
Chemists
Boots Chemist at Adcroft will relocate to a new site at the front of the new THC.
Cohens at Bradford Road site will leave their premises around the time the medical practice departs. We understand they have new premises in the neighbourhood & will continue to provide the same services they currently do from that.
Cohens at the Wingfield Road site continues with business as usual.
Patient Participation Group
We have started a new group and have formed a committee. We see this as positive for the new organisation.
The committee would very much like to receive your suggestions on how to facilitate the smooth running of the new centrePlease email :
