CASE Study

(Adapted from the hit TV series and CASE District II Breakout Session)

Based on your experiences, successes, challenges and volunteer knowledge, think big and prepare to pitch your most innovative alumni program idea to a panel of alumni volunteers based on the case study outlined below.

What to do:

  • Develop an alumni engagement plan based on the expectations, team brief, background and resources.
  • Each group has 5 minutes to present ONE outstanding part of your plan to the “Volunteer Board” and top THREE key objectives the “Board” should consider.
  • Involve all team members in this process – be creative an innovative with your pitch.
  • Only technology and resources currently available through the Alumni Association are permitted to be used in your presentation.

What to expect:

  • Your presentation will be evaluated on FOUR equal criteria:
  • Use of tier structure requirements and funding
  • Innovation and creativity
  • Teamwork
  • Responsiveness to all questions
  • Each group will receive live, on the spot questions and feedback (5 minutes) form the volunteer panel and volunteers in the audience.
  • A timer will be available to track your five minute presentation limit.
  • During the Friday group sessions, you have the opportunity to ask questions of the OHIO Alumni Association team members. You will also have time to debrief and reflect on your group’s performance and most importantly what you learned along the way.

TEAM BRIEF

You are the new Executive Board for the Indianapolis Chapter/Russ College Society. The Chapter/Society is currently struggling with alumni engagement and could lose their tier status and funding for the next fiscal year.

Although there has been some engagement activities with the alumni in the past, programming has had a lack of interest and attendance.

The goal of this project is to provide a comprehensive alumni engagement plan for the Chapter/Society to deploy over the next two years. The purpose of this plan is to build a culture of engagement throughout its alumni community and a succession plan for Chapter/Society.
