ACTION PLANS AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY

  1. Equip yourself with knowledge about pornography and resources to combat it.
  2. Start a prayer ministry for families, your community, leaders and South Africa.
  3. Uphold God’s standards for purity, marriage and family through your own life and example.
  4. Mobilise your church to get involved in taking action against pornography.
  5. Protect your family online through the use of software filters, prayer, open discussion and monitoring of internet use.
  6. Create platforms for people to talk about purity and the danger of pornography by giving them accurate information from a Biblical perspective.
  7. Create support groups and counselling ministries for those who struggle with sexual addiction.
  8. Create support groups for families who are impacted by someone in the family with sexual addiction.
  9. Empower parents with accurate knowledge on how to keep their children safe.
  10. Educate children on the danger of pornography and unsafe internet use; equip them to use internet, media and technology safely.
  11. Support ministries who do combat pornography from a Biblical perspective and who strengthen families. Subscribe to their newsletters to stay updated on current events.
  12. Support campaigns and organisations such as Africa Christian Action and Family Policy Institute that stop television companies and stations from broadcasting pornographic channels and programmes.
  13. Support legislation that will block internet porn at Tier 1 level Internet Service Providers. Tier 1 service providers control all entry/exit points for data to enter or leave the country.
  14. Lobby the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs about the lax pornography laws in South Africa or to push through to Parliament the Anti-Internet Pornography Bill (
  15. Report all child pornography at or 0800 148 148.
  16. Ask your local shops to remove all magazines and material that contain sexually explicit material.
  17. Contact the Film and Publications Board if you have a complaint about a film, magazine or computer game at 012 661 0051 or . Check the classification of film on their website at
  18. Lodge complaints about programmes on TV channels and radio programmes with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) at . or 011 325 5755.
  19. Partner with organisations and ministries that combat pornography to share resources and knowledge.
