We use the comprehensive online safety toolkit and attend relevant training.
Procedures
Personal Mobile Phones
§ Personal mobile phones belonging to members of staff are not used on premises during working hours.
§ At the beginning of each individual’s shift, personal mobile phones are stored in a locked cupboard or staff sign the form stating they do not have a mobile phone with them.
§ The daily register is used morning and afternoon to record the amount of adults present and this is then checked and recorded against amount of phones signed in or signatures stating they have no phone with them.
§ In the event of an emergency, personal mobile phones may be used in the office area or off the premises.
§ Members of staff ensure that the telephone number of the pre-school is known to immediate family and other people who need to contact them in an emergency.
§ If members of staff take their own mobile phones on outings, for use in the case of an emergency, they must not make or receive personal calls as this will distract them.
§ Members of staff will not use their personal mobile phones for taking photographs of children on outings or within the setting.
§ Parents and visitors are requested not to use their mobile phones whilst on the premises. Visitors will be spoken to and given written information on arrival when signing in, requesting that any mobile phone or camera must be stored in the locked cupboard whilst they are within the pre-school. Or asking them to sign that they do not have a mobile phone or camera with them. (There is an exception if a visitor’s company or organisation operates a lone working policy that requires contact with their office periodically throughout the day, however their phone must still be locked in the cupboard and only used in the office space or off the premises).
§ Visitors will be advised of the office space where they can use their mobile phone or off the premises.
