Magic Carpet Rides

Spring 2016

In this unit students gain an awareness to the wonders of the countries they could visit. This is gained through a range of activities centred on an imaginary carpet rides through a range of magical countries. The unit contains a range of planned and personalised sensory experiences such as poetry, stories, songs, games and musical experiences.

SENSORY EXPLORATION
LIGHT STIMULATION:
- Ongoing individual programmes
- Use topic related objects e.g. Chinese fans, Indian lights, flashing light

MUSIC:
- Exploring range of world music – ocean drums, Indian bells, shakers
- Exploration of instruments which represent environmental sounds

ART:
- Create Egyptian jewellery and headbands

- Setting the scene – magic carpet, listening to music, scent of candle
