The appointee will, by working with the Director of Training and Programme Managers, contribute to the training strategy and delivery and improvement of academic standards within training. The appointee will lead on quality improvement in training including overseeing the implementation and running of the digital training strategy. The appointee will also ensure compliance with academic policies and procedures and lead on training accreditations and validations.

Accountability

The Academic Standards Manager is accountable to the Director of Training, who is accountable to the CEO. Lines of accountability may be subject to change.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

  1. Develop and implement an innovative teaching, learning and assessment strategy including digital support and delivery (Moodle and Turnitin).
  1. Working closely with the Director of Training and Programme Mangers to develop a range of effective quality assurance mechanisms and compliance systems which lead to continued performance improvement
  1. Working closely with collaborative partners on quality assurance requirements.
  1. To ensure that policies and procedures re effective and promote quality assurance and excellence in training.
  1. To provide guidance and direction to training staff on quality assurance and regulatory frameworks ensuring that relevant staff are aware of imminent and longer term changes in the assurance of quality and standards.
  1. Development, management, monitoring and analysis of the programme annual review cycle with Programme Managers ensuring that the evaluation cycle is complete and changes are implemented with Programme Management.
  1. Co-ordinate and oversee the assessment process on core trainings with the Chair of the Assessment process.
  1. Develop a comprehensive suite of data reports to enable curriculum areas and programme managers to be able to analyse performance in the respective areas of responsibility.
  1. Undertake a range of quality and standards tasks in relation to the approval and review of the core trainings with validating and accrediting bodies including organising and managing review meetings and panel events.
  1. Ensure that information from validating and accrediting bodies is circulated and implemented.
  1. It is anticipated that there will be line management responsibility for the Librarian and Library volunteers.
  1. To co-ordinate the reading lists with the Programme Managers, Seminar Leaders and Librarian.
  1. Participate in appropriate networks to enhance aspects of quality
  1. Design, implementation and management of innovative strategies to develop learning environment, including VLE to make sure they meet the needs of staff and learners.
  1. Provide support and training to staff and trainees for VLE and other digitisation of learning.
  1. The appointee may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed.
  1. To carry out additional responsibilities as requested by WPF Therapy.
  1. Full participation in Academic Standards and Programme Board meetings.

Person Specification

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications
1st Degree or equivalent
Teaching qualification or substantial experience of teaching
Management qualification or quality framework accreditation
Equality and diversity training or willingness to undertake
Experience of working with External Examiners
Knowledge, skills and experience
Significant experience of quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, including a good understanding of current developments.
Experience of working in education with strong academic standards
Experience of, and involvement in, national quality networks
Experience of using Moodle and Turnitin
Experience of producing complex documents for reviews and validations
Ability to organize and prioritise own work, work flexibly and meet deadlines
Experience of implementing Moodle and Turnitin
Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to think strategically
Strong attention to detail
Familiar with Data Protection requirements

Work Hours:17.5 hours across 3 days to include Mondays and Wednesdays.

Salary:c£44,500 pro rata Actual salary £22,250 (all inclusive)
