ThisdocumentprovidestheTermsofReferenceandtheNominationFormforCouncil’sArts andCulturalAdvisoryCommittee(ACAC).

Background

InNovember2012,Counciladoptedarealignment ofCouncil’sCommitteeStructureinthe contextoftheaspirationsandorganisationalprioritiesestablishedbytheIntegratedPlanning andReportingFrameworkandspecificallytheShireofBellingen2030CommunityStrategic Plan. PrimarilytheroleoftheACACistoprovideadvicetoCouncilonspecificartsandcultural matters.TheCommunityStrategicPlan(CSP2030)willguidetheCommitteetoprovideadvice asto how bothCounciland the communitycan deliveruponthe objectivesin the 2030CommunityStrategicPlan.

ROLEOFTHECOMMITTEE

Tooverseeand monitortheimplementationofrecommendationsarisingfrom theArtsandCulturalPlan.

TocreateopportunitiesforCounciltoworkinpartnershipwiththecommunityin respondingtocurrentsocialissues.

ToundertakeabiannualreviewoftheArtsandCulturalplan

TomakerecommendationsofthoseactionstobeconsideredforinclusioninCouncil’sDeliveryProgramandOperationalPlan.

Toassistindevelopinglinkswithspecialinterestgroups,organisationsand committees.

To assist in developing links with all stakeholders and encouraging broad communityparticipation inaddressingissuesidentifiedintheArtsandCultural Plan.

Toidentifyfundingopportunitiesforresourcesandprogramsthatbenefitsthe artisticandculturalpreservation, development andsustainability ofthe community.Toprovideadviceandassistance onlocalaspectsofRegional[Mid NorthCoast]plansandstrategiesastheyrelatetocommunitywellbeing.

TheCommitteeistobemadeupofthefollowingmembers:

  • TwoPortfolioCouncillors–onebeingChairperson(2);
  • Manager-CommunityandWellbeing–ExecutiveOfficer(1);
  • TworepresentativefromeachoftheareasofDorrigo,BellingenandUrunga(6);
  • ARepresentativefromCampCreative(1);
  • RepresentativesfromtheArtsandCulturalCommunityatlargewithpreferenceforaleast onerepresentativeofAboriginalCultural(3);

Totalcomposition(13)

Expressionsofinterestwillbeaccessedbasedonadequateskillsandexperienceintheroleof theCommittee.CouncilencouragesindigenousrepresentationontheCommittee.

MEETINGFREQUENCY

InorderfortheCommittee tofunctionefficiently andeffectively, theCommittee willmeetona quarterlybasis.

NOTES

TheCommitteecannotdirectstaffto preparereportsonspecificmatters,toissuemedia releasesorcorrespondence, ortocarryoutparticularworks.TheCommittee’scommunity members mustbewillingtobecomeactivelyinvolvedinanyworkarisingfromtheCommittee’s operations. Committee members will be bound by the Advisory Committee Manual and Council’sCodeofConduct.
