ACA Second Open Enrollment Social Media Toolkit

Usage Notes:
- There are two categories of social media content in this document. The first list is of general tweets and Facebook updates can be used at any time. The second list includes date-specific social media that should be utilized for important deadlines, holidays and the final week of open enrollment. You can utilize the Table of Contents (Ctl+click) or view in Navigation pane to go to specific sections of the document.
- There are two types of individuals that will be enrolling for health care using exchanges this year—those with coverage (for renewal or to change coverage) and those that are enrolling for the first time. We’ve organized our general tweets and updates into #GetCovered and #StayCovered to ensure that both types of individuals are informed of their options.
- We recommend that users send out multiple tweets (both #GetCovered and #StayCovered content) via Twitter each day, and post Facebook updates periodically.
- We suggest that you use Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Buffer or another social media manager to schedule tweets between 12-2PM (unless otherwise specified) and send Facebook updates anytime. That way you don’t have to manually send tweets or updates.
- Please tweak the content as you see fit. For example, in California you may want to provide a link to the local state exchange not healthcare.gov.
- Share this document widely! Any organization or individual can use these tweets and updates. If you want to give a shout-out, just HT @NULpolicy. Happy Tweeting and Updating!
