ABSTINENCE EDUCATOR
Job Description
Objectives of the Position:
To educate students ages 11-15, parents, and the community at large in Boone, Campbell, Kenton, Owen, Pendleton, and Grant counties to choose abstinence from all sexual activity until marriage as the best preparation for teens’ futures and for marriage, and to avoid other risky youth behaviors, like drugs and alcohol, which contribute to increased sexual activity.
Reports To: Abstinence Education Coordinator
Responsibilities:
§ Teach the approved age appropriate Abstinence curriculum.
§ Keep current with medical facts and research concerning abstinence.
§ Administer the pre- and post-tests to each class as directed.
§ Return all tests and unused materials to New Hope at completion of assignment.
§ Adhere to the A-H and 13 Themes standards in all educational efforts.
§ Must be willing to sign assurances prior to accepting the position.
§ Become a Certified Abstinence Educator by completing approved training.
§ Be available to represent New Hope Center’s Abstinence Program at health fairs, parent nights, and business settings.
§ Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
§ Has a passion for and a commitment to the abstinence message and the well being of youth.
§ A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in education, nursing, psychology, youth work, community/school counseling, or social work is preferred.
§ Excellent communication skills with youth, adult facilitators and professionals in the community.
§ Able to work independent and flexible hours.
Employment Details: This position is part-time, and is subject to school requests, and the typical 9-month school calendar. Background checks are required prior to hiring.
