The newly created nation of Westhpaliaberg is seeking the leadership and guidance of an absolute leader. After the Reformation, Religious Wars, and the weakening of the power of the Roman Catholic Church, our country has declared its independence and created a sovereign nation.
Your mission is to be the best absolute ruler to claim the throne of our nation and lead it to greatness!
The nation has narrowed the list of potential applicants to the following leaders:

Elizabeth I (Verina/Emma, Lexi/Jackie, Lindsay)

Timeline of Project

Day 1 - Select Monarch/Group, Begin Research

Day 2 - Complete Monarch and begin Resume writing

Day 3 - Practice and prepare for Interview

Day 4 - Job Interviews in class - Thursday March 3rd (both classes)

Your Task:

You will be assigned a different leader from the Age of Absolutism to research. The information will then be used to create a resume for your absolute ruler

1.Create a resume for that monarch including:

-Name, contact information (nationality/address in a header)

-Objective statement (What your leader hopes to accomplish as a leader of this new nation)

-Education / training (schools, military, religious, etc.)

-Work/Job Experience

oHighlight the skills this ruler needed to assume and keep power as an absolute monarch

oHOW DID THEY FIT INTO THE THEME OF ABSOLUTE RULER

oWhat are your person’s qualifications?

oAccomplishments. What did your leader accomplish at their old job?

▪Things your leader wants to stress in order to get hired. Make sure to list specific events and actions.

▪At least 4 experiences must appear on your resume

-Use a resume format

oYou can find resume templates in the chrome store or format your google doc to look like a resume.

oRemember resumes are clear, concise, and to the point

oA typical resume is no longer than two pages

oRemember to be creative! A resume is supposed to highlight you as the BEST CANDIDATE FOR THAT JOB.

The Job Interview

Part of your project will be to “interview” as your monarch for the job as absolute Rulers of Westphaliaberg. Each group/student will participate in an interview with Mr. Trzepinska. Interviews will be conducted after the resumes are completed. Students should be prepared to answer ANY of the following questions during the interview:

-Tell me a little bit about yourself and your background

-Tell me about your biggest accomplishment at your previous job. What was it? Why did you do it?

-What is your greatest strength?

-What are some of your weaknesses? How do you plan to improve on it?

-What are your goals as an Absolute Monarch?

-What are 3 positive things that your previous subjects would say about you?

-What satisfies you most about being an Absolute Monarch?

-What can you do that other candidates cant ?

-Why should we hire you?

-Do you have any questions for me?

Students are encouraged to dress to impress during the interview period (You dont have to).

Your grade will be determined by the following criteria:

  1. Resume Format(Resume has all required elements – name, objective statement, background information, education, and at least 4 experiences/accomplishments) - 25 points
  1. Historical Accuracy (The research is detailed, thorough and demonstrates the student’s knowledge of the leader) - 25 points
  1. Creativity(Resume is creative and able to synthesize research into a resume) - 15 points
  1. Spelling and Grammar(Resume is free of spelling and grammar references) - 10 points
  1. Interview Performance(Students/Groups are able to answer all questions in an interview and sell monarch as best candidate for the job) - 25 points
