Strengths:

·  Aud and SLP - strong faculty with good range of expertise

·  Supervisors very helpful, accessible, friendly

·  Tight-knit department

·  Put effort towards bettering the program

·  Undergraduate classes prepare you for graduate school

o  have required courses that not all undergrad programs have

o  getting important content to students earlier in curriculum

o  increased observations in audiology

o  senior clinician opportunities

·  AuD curriculum is comprehensive – have courses not all AuD programs have

o  Appreciated special coding and billing seminar

o  Appreciate department’s ability to bring in outside resources when necessary to educate students

·  Faculty are open to working with students individually (independent studies, etc.)

·  Students have plenty of opportunities to be involved/volunteer

·  Scholarship opportunities

·  Lots of clinical opportunities for speech

o  Across the state

o  Within the community

o  In our own clinic

·  Audiology good on campus variety of clinical opportunities

·  Mrs. Verticchio is an awesome strength!!

Weaknesses:

·  Clinic needs updated/ separated from student work areas

·  Number and location of 4th year placements for AuD students

·  Lacking cochlear implant clients/observations

·  Number of pediatric audiology clients needs to be increased

·  External supervisors don’t like Typhon

·  Need more research opportunities for undergraduate students

·  AuD capstone – set timelines that are definitive and standardized across students

·  Distribute capstone experiences more evenly across faculty

Threats:

·  Not enough grad school spots for the amount of deserving undergrads—national problem

·  Funds needed for future improvements? State Funding?

Opportunities:

·  APD
