The Knox City-O’Brien CISD Board of Trustees met on this date in regular session with the following members present: Amanda Duke, Dale Turner, Clint Lewis, and Scott Lynn

Absent – Al Rios, Jeremy Eaton, and Nick Jimenez

School personnel present: Louis Baty, Superintendent;

Visitors Present: none

The meeting was called to order by Dale Turner at 7:13 pm.

OPEN FORUM/ PUBLIC COMMENTS

APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS

Motion was made by Clint Lewis at 7:16 p.m. seconded by Scott Lynn to approve by consent the following agenda items: Knox City-O’Brien CISD June 14, 2016 Regular Board Meeting minutes, and Attest May 17, 2016 Haskell Knox SSA Board Minutes. Motion carried unanimous vote.

PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE

Motion was made by Amanda Duke at 7:19 p.m. seconded by Clint Lewis to accept the property and casualty insurance proposal from TASB for the 2016-17 School Year. Motion carried unanimous vote.

APPROVAL OF WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE

Motion was made by Clint Lewis at 7:21p.m.seconded by Scott Lynn to accept the proposal from Claims Administrative Services for workers compensation insurance under year 1 of a3 year contract . Motion carried by unanimous vote.

DISCUSSION OF 2016 TAX RATE

Louis Baty discussed with the board a proposed tax rate of 1.17 for maintenance and operations and $0.065 for interest and sinking. Mr. Baty told the board next year will be the final year of our bond debt.

PERSONNEL

Louis Baty informed the board the following employees have been hired for the 2016-17 school year: Tamara Urbanczyk, O’Brien Special Education; T-Keeyah, High School Social Studies and Coach; Shelby Ermis, Elementary Teacher; Mindy Price, Middle School Math; Tiffany Evans, High School Resource Aide, Applications are being accepted for a day care worker

Motion was made by Amanda Duke, seconded by Clint Lewis to adjourn at 7:37 p.m. Motion carried unanimous vote.
